Kicking my heels off before getting out of the car, I run barefoot to the porch of my brother's house. Without even opening the door, I can already hear Ben yelling, along with another man. I stop in my tracks, halfway inside when I realize who the other voice is.

Josh walks up behind me, not realizing why I stopped.

"You good?" He asks.

I turn around to face him and shut the door behind me. I can practically feel the color draining from my face as I shake my head no.

Mia emerges from the driveway, probably after leaving through the back door of the house.

"Delilah!" She yells, hushed, only loud enough for only Josh and I to hear. She clearly doesn't want anyone to know I'm here. She grabs us by the arms and brings us to the back yard.

"Why did you call me here?"
"They were about to kill each other. I have 911 ready to be dialed on my phone. I don't know what to do."

"What's going on?" Josh asks Mia.

"Shawn's back." I say.

He looks confused for a minute, before heading straight to the house.

"Josh, stop!" I try to hold him back, but he's already inside.

I follow, Mia close behind me. I see my brother, Ben, in the face of my ex...Shawn. Who seems to have aged. A LOT.

They look directly at me, before Shawn starts toward me. Josh steps in between us right away.

"Move." Shawn says.

"Not a chance, unless you've turned into a completely different person in the past 5 years."

I see Shawn's head poke around Josh's shoulder.

"Hi!" He says to me, waving and smiling. What the fuck? "Remember me?"

Unfortunately. Yes. I can never FORGET you.

"Yeah, uh," He clears his throat. "I'm here because, well, you know. Remember my wife, Naima?" He says, pointing to the familiar woman, who's standing in the hallway.

I nod, not an ounce of amusement written on my face.

"Well, she recently told me some things about you," He inches closer to Josh. "You might wanna move out of my way for this one." Josh looks back at me. I sigh, letting him know that it's okay. He steps back, standing next to me.

"Why don't you tell her, babe?" Shawn asks his wife. I can feel the anger start to creep up inside me.

She rolls her eyes and walks toward us. "I was there that night you talked to the doctors after your accident. I heard everything."

My eyebrows furrow. I don't quite understand what she means.

"Okay? And?"

"I heard about your m-"

"You tried to kill our baby." Shawn cuts her off.

My eyes almost pop out of my skull with that one.

"I'm sorry, Miss Olsson. But you've also suffered a miscarriage, likely due to the amount of stress you've been under the past couple months." The doctor says.

"Miscarriage? I'm not pregnant. I'm on the pill."

"Oral contraceptives have a slight chance of failing. That goes for every woman. You were around 6 weeks pregnant. I'm sorry again." She says before leaving the room. I hear her muster out an "excuse me, ma'am" on her way out.

6 weeks? I do the math in my head.

6 weeks.

---------------------\\---------------------

"You put your life in jeopardy, while you were pregnant with MY child! You don't think of anyone but yourself, do you?"

"First of all, I wouldn't have jeopardized anything if YOU weren't such an arrogant, abusive, asshole! So before you come at me, saying that I DON'T THINK of anyone but MYSELF?" I find myself struggling to get the last sentence out, looking at everyone in the room. "Look in the mirror. Seriously, what did you think you were going to accomplish, coming here tonight?"

He steps closer to me again and Josh shoves him back a little. He gives him dirty look in return, but doesn't fight back.

"I wanted to see what you were up to. If you killed any more children by your reckless behavi-"

"Shawn., stop." His wife says. We hear a child crying on the steps and everyone looks.

"Daddy?" My nephew, Elias, holds onto the railing, rubbing his eyes like he just woke up.

"Come on, go upstairs, baby." Mia rushes up the steps, picking him up and bringing him back to his room.

"Shawn, let's go." Naima says, attempting to pull him away from me. "There are kids here."

"I'm not done." He brushes her off and inches closer to me than I'm comfortable with, but his whole expression changes. He actually looks sad now. "If you hated me so much, why didn't you just tell me?"

I start laughing. Harder than I ever have before.

"Shawn, that's the thing. I did tell you. Multiple times. You responded by beating the shit out of me." I continue laughing as I open the front door, gesturing them to leave.

"You've woken up my nephew, so please leave before Mia calls the police." Naima pretty much pushes Shawn out to the porch.

"Don't you regret anything?" Shawn asks, turning back to me. I feel a little bad, but not bad enough to hold back what I'm about to say.

"Shawn, I regret everything. And don't take it so personal, please. The baby wasn't even yours." I slam the door in his face and turn around, immediately regretting my words.
