"I just want results. No games or gimmicks.
Your father and I made a deal a long time ago and it needs to be upheld."

I lean back in my seat, my brows furrowing as I stared at the slender figure before me.

"Oswald, I assure you that I'll square the problem away once I find out what the deal is exactly-"

"-it's not important!" He shouts, causing me to sit up then, moving closer to the man.

"Then why the worry?"

"I am running low on patience, Miss.Wayne. I have a business to run and I need my dues. I'll give you until the end of this week."

"And if I don't? Are you threatening me, Mr. Cobblepot?" I pressure, standing from my seat at my desk and leaning forward in disbelief.

"I'll be waiting to hear back from you. Don't leave me waiting, Miss.Wayne. It wouldn't be smart and I do hear you're quite intelligent."

He turns swiftly and exits my office with a loud slam of the oak doors, causing me to slink back into my seat. With anxious eyes I scan the photo of myself, my father, and Alfred which sat snug at the left corner of my desk. I wish I could ask them for advice in times like this.

I shook my head and went back to signing and reading through files with tired eyes before a knock sounds at the doors. Without looking up, I shout a quick "come in" to have Emory rush forward.

"Hi, Ronnie. You've got another visitor and a call on line one..."

"Who's here? And the call?" I ask, letting the pen topple onto the shroud of papers littering my desk as I took off my glasses, throwing them on the pile as well.

"The call is Mr.Fox. There is a young woman named Harper Rae who would like to speak with you."

I whip my head up as my hand lingers on the phone, not yet lifting it to speak as I tilt my head.

"Harper Rae?"

"Yes, she claims it's important."

I nod and lift the phone to answer, motioning Emory to send Harper in. I couldn't believe my ears. It's been years.

"Lucius I do hope you're calling me with some good news." I answer nicely as his voice chuckles over the line.

"Good in what favor, Ronnie? I did some inspection on the strikers and artillery down in applied sciences some time ago and think you should come down and look at my findings. How does tonight sound?"

I pause when the knock sounds at my door again, signaling the new guest.

"In what respects? I don't mean to sound prude but I have some meetings to attend-"

"-no worries. Call me when your available then. I'll be on stand by."

"You're a gift, Lucius. Thank you and again, I'm sorry."

"No need, it's all apart of the job. I'll see you soon."

I bid Lucius a warm farewell as I shout for Emory to enter.

The door opens wide, Emory holding the door as a woman walks through with copper colored hair and fair skin in contrast to mine. She was slim and dressed in a red dress that came just above her knees. Her lips parted when he saw me, no words escaping as we looked at each other for the first time in forever.

"Em, could you clear out my appointments for the rest of the afternoon? Reschedule them, I mean. Thank you." I state calmly as she nods, closing the door behind her.
