"Where's dad at, mom?" Jake asked his mother while we all sat down for dinner.

"Your father should be here soon, he just needed to finish something up at the warehouse for work," Katheryn said as she started to pass the food around.

"So Iris, do you think you're ready for school tomorrow?" Jake asked me.

"As well as I can be I guess. We still need a reason for why you and I left the party early." I said.

"You're right. We have to think of a good reason though, or else they'll get suspicious." Jake said. After multiple suggestions from around the table during dinner, I thought of one that I thought could actually work.

"What if we say that I left the party early to go for a walk in the park, and then I saw Jake walking around there as well. After a bit, we noticed someone was following us. Jake tried confronting the person, but they then tried attacking us. We both fought the person off, but they ended up punching Jake in the ribs so we went to the hospital to get it checked out. Thankfully nothing was broken, just bruised, so I called my parents and they drove and Jake home. And if we use that story, we aren't straying off too far from what actually happened." I said.

"That's the best suggestion so far, so we will use that one. And if they did end up finding out the truth, they would make the connections between what was true and what wasn't. And it won't be a big amount." Jake said with a smile.

After dinner, everyone excused themselves from the table and went along in their own business. I made my way upstairs to my bedroom and laid out all the clothes I had gotten that day. I picked out the clothes I wanted to wear to school the next day and set those aside. A few hours later I took a shower and started getting myself ready for bed. My thoughts trailed off to the might the power went out and I had to kill that man from The Black Thorns. I could clearly remember everything he said to me from me being more capable of things then I knew of to trying to convince me to join The Black Thorns. I just stood in front of my bedroom window, trying to piece things together trying to see how I would be of any use for The Black Thorns. I then heard a knock on the door and said for them to come in.

"Hey, are you okay?" Jake said as he closed the door behind him.

"Yeah of course, why wouldn't I be okay?" I asked as I continued to stare out the window.

"I don't know, I just felt like you might be worrying about something, that's all," Jake said as he moved to stand beside me.

"Well, I've been thinking about some stuff about the night the power went out and what that guy had told me," I said. I told Jake about what I was thinking, hoping he might have some advice for me. Thankfully he didn't interrupt me while I was talking or think I was crazy. I was surprised at how good he was at listening to people while they talked. He didn't look bored or weirded out by what I was saying, just interested.

"Where do you think would be the best place to get some more information about The Black Thorns? Like about their leader and their past?" I asked Jake.

"Well, Jackson might be able to get some information for you down in the technology room. There is only certain information about them available to us though, they're a pretty tight group of people." Jake said.

"Okay, well I'll go check it out with Jackson. Thanks for your help Jake, I really appreciate it." I said with a smile as I started to walk out the room.

"No problem," Jake said as I left the room.

I was curious about the information Jackson might be able to get for me. I really had just wanted to know about their past leaders and what their names were. It's time to finally get some answers.
