"Evelyn! I hope you're not still sleeping!" Evelyn heard her mother call from downstairs.
Evelyn groaned outwardly and pushed her covers up, rolling over to look at the time on her clock. 7:45.
Evelyn groaned again. She had only gotten about three hours of sleep due to her talented procrastination of packing. Her mom had asked her if she had packed her trunk every day for the two weeks leading up to her departure on the Hogwarts express, but Evelyn hadn't even started until the night before.
She got out of bed and put on her outfit for the train ride. It was casual, comfortable, and all black, the three most essential things to her style. After she brushed her hair and she made sure that everything was ready, it was about 8:30. The Hogwarts express didn't leave until 11:00, but she had to make sure to be there by 10:30 at the latest in order to secure a good car in a solid location for the ride. Believe it or not, there was a lot of strategies to which car people rode in on the Express.
She went downstairs and found her mom in the kitchen. Evelyn quickly saw the bagels and grabbed one and started buttering it.
Evelyn's mom smiled at her, "Are you ready for your third year? It's going to be very exciting."
Evelyn's mom, Helen, was a graduate of Hogwarts herself and was in the Ravenclaw House (although Evelyn was convinced that she saw a lot of Slytherin in her.)
Evelyn shrugged, "I mean, I don't really know what to think because I don't know what to expect? It should be fun!"
Helen nodded and continued talking with Evelyn until about 9:45. "We better get going!" Helen said as she motioned to Evelyn to grab her trunk and join her by the fireplace so they could floo to London and get to King's Cross Station.
Soon enough they were being warped through space and were stumbling into King's Cross Station. As soon as Evelyn landed, she face-planted right onto the hard tile of the station with a thud. Everyone turned their heads at the sound, and even her mom was laughing.
Evelyn stayed on the floor in the plank position for a moment, before being interrupted by a voice.
"Erm, Evelyn?" said the cheery voice, which she recognized immediately. Dean Thomas, the underrated snack from Gryffindor House. Evelyn had fancied him since her first year.
She poked her head up, her face rapidly turning red. "Oh, erm uh, Hi Dean."
She stumbled to get to her feet, "What's up?" She added in trying to ease the awkwardness.
"Not much, good summer?" He asked politely trying to start a conversation. Dean nonchalantly stood with his hands in his trouser pockets.
"Yeah, yeah, it was pretty good." Evelyn's cheeks were crimson with embarrassment. Usually, she would brush it off with a joke, but it was the first day back. She had to slowly build up her rep. "How was your-"
"Dean, come on! We need to get a compartment!" Evelyn turned to see another fellow Gryffindor, Seamus Finnigan, waving Dean over. Seamus didn't even bother waving or saying a simple 'hello'.
"Well, I'll see ya," Dean waved as he headed towards Seamus and their group.
Seeing as there was no one on the platform worth talking to, Evelyn headed onto the train in hopes of finding an empty compartment, and she did. Right next to the Slytherin compartment. It wasn't that Evelyn had an issue with Slytherins, some of her best friends were from that house. She actually felt Gryffindors and Slytherins would make excellent partners in crime (although she would never tell anyone). The issue was with the specific people in the compartment, including Pansy Parkinson, a first-class bitch who was one of Evelyn's best friends Mia Finn's, sworn enemy.
