Faith POV:

{Three Years Earlier}

"Alright girls! PJ time!" I announce, clapping to get their attention. Gracie giggles, running toward the stairs while Maggie stumbles around behind her. I pick up Audrey out of her chair, and walk her upstairs. Gracie starts her bath, while I put Audrey down for the night. I walk into the bathroom to see Gracie and Maggie are already getting in, making me smile. It's awesome starting to see them grow independent. I sit by the bath, laughing at Gracie tries to help Maggie wash her hair. "Be careful of her eyes, honey." I say, shielding her eyes from the shampoo. Maggie cackles, having the time of her life, and in turn making Gracie laugh.

A knock on the door causes me to turn around. Tim leans against the doorway, his car keys still in his hand as he watches the girls with a smile. He looks down at me, his smile fading slightly. That's never a good sign...

"Hey baby." I say, watching him take a deep breath.

"Can we talk?" He asks, pressing his tongue against his cheek. I look at the girls, who are almost finished bathing.

"Yeah, just let me finish their bath." I reply, causing him to clear his throat.

"I mean, like now." He counters, making my stomach sink. What's so crucial that it can't wait two minutes?

"I can't leave them in the bath unsupervised, Tim." I answer, losing a little patience with him. He walks away, leaving me with a weird feeling. Something's off...

I drain the tub, and wrap a towel around the girls, walking them back to their rooms. I quickly brush through Maggie's hair, before Gracie insists on brushing her own.

"Alright, goodnight girls." I say, now that they have their pajamas on. I turn off the light and shut their door, before taking a deep breath. "Okay..." I say to myself, trying to muster the courage to walk into our room. I already get a bad feeling when I walk in.

"Hey..." He says, sitting down on the edge of the bed. I lean against the doorway, biting my lip as I try to gauge his emotions. We've been fighting a lot lately on whether or not to have more kids.

"What's up?" I reply, hearing him sigh.

"I got a vasectomy." He states, causing my heart to drop out of my chest. I stare at him, trying to gauge if he's bluffing or not. He's completely stone faced... "I'm not going to risk going through what we went through with Audrey again... I'm not even going to entertain it. So if you want to go off and try that again, it's not on my hands." He spits out, causing me to start shaking. I'm torn between being infuriated and heartbroken.

"Why didn't you talk to me about it first?" I ask, trying to keep from losing my temper immediately.

"We did talk, and you made it clear what your position was." He replies. I clench my fists and take a deep breath, my heart pounding. I feel my eyes watering, as I feel that image of another child that I started growing attached to, slip away.

"Tim... This wasn't a... You..." I try to argue back, but I can't come up with the words. "We didn't have a conversation about a vasectomy... You never ran that by me." I release, my tone shifting to one more anger-ridden. He shrugs.

"You weren't listening. What else was I supposed to do? You could hop off the pill any goddamn day and I would have no way of telling." He argues, making my anger overflow. "Faith, it's fine. It's over now." He says, trying to move on.

"No, it's not fine." I reply, my head throbbing. "And this sure as hell isn't over, either." I add, watching him roll his eyes. "What part of you thinks that this is okay? We have one discussion about having another kid, you disagree with me, and then you run off and do this?" I ramble, feeling frazzled. He stares at me, before shaking his head.
