Chapter 24 [Pain's assault]

                                    

                                          
Ayame POV 
I woke up later today. I was training till late night with Itachi last night. We were training to use telepathy to communicate to each other, so others wouldn't be able to over hear some of our conversations. We managed, but it'll still need a little practice. 
                          
"Itachi, is there any missions today?" I asked through telepathy. 
                          
"You know it's a waste of chakra by doing this right? And yes. Our mission is to hunt down the two I mentioned the other day. Get them to the bounty station, get the money and return. It's located near Konoha." Itachi replied. 
                          
"Hehe. Oh okay shall we get going then? Oh and practice makes perfect! Besides I never get the chance to actually get close to using up all my chakra in battles so I don't see why can't I waste them on these stuff."
                          
He sighed again and we went off.
                          
They came for us instead of us going after them. It seems that they wanted me. I had a high bounty 100 ryo alive, 150 ryo dead. We didn't need more than 3 minutes to take care of them. After we did, we made our way to the bounty station and got the money. 
                          
While we were heading back, we heard screams. 
                          
"That must be from Konoha! Can we go check it out?" I asked. You could say I was panicking a little. 
                          
Itachi nodded and we went that way. When we arrived, I saw Konoha destroyed. 
                          
"Go." Itachi told me. 
                          
I ran and ran. After awhile of running I saw, what I was looking for. I saw it, I saw how he died, I saw who killed him, I saw him die right in front of my eyes. I saw dad die. He was dead. 
                          
Anger filled me. I didn't care about the fact that it was the akatsuki leader that killed him. I didn't care about how that might just blow my cover. I was so mad I killed the Deva path. Then I went on, I knew there were 6 of them. One was already dead right below me. I went after the rest of the pain. I killed every single on of them and took my leave. That moment, I made up my mind, to kill all the akatsuki members that are alive currently, excluding Itachi of course. 
                          
I was so mad, I didn't bother listening to anyone that talked to me. I'm pretty sure Naruto, Sakura, Lady Tsunade, Ibiki and some others yelled things at me. I didn't listen. I didn't bother. I just walked my way back to Itachi. 
                          
When I stopped beside him, he said something. I didn't listen. He continued yelling at me. Soon after, I figured that I wouldn't listen to anyone, not now. But there was one way he made me hear him. 
                          
"AYAME! Listen to me. I know you're mad at the for killing your dad. I know you killed pein. I won't stop what you're going to do. Just calm down first okay?" He used telepathy and said. 
                          
The message came in my head before I could even stop it. That snapped me out of it. My anger lowered. My sadness overflowed. I started crying and fell onto my knees. Seeing this Itachi picked me up and brought us somewhere to sit down. He calmed me down there. 
                          
"So what are you going to do now? You already killed pein. What now?" He asked. 
                          
I took a deep breath. "I'm going to kill the rest of them. The rest of the Akatsuki members. They would only cause more death if they live. Excluding you of course. Without you I don't know what I would've done by now. Probably would've killed myself already." 
                          
"I'll follow you. Since you saved my life. So who's first?" He said. 
                          
"Thanks, Itachi. Let's go after Kisame first. I remember he has a mission nearby. I'll teleport us there." I said. 
                          
I teleported directly behind Kisame and swung my sword at him immediately. He didn't have time to dodge so he died, just like that.
                          
Next was Deidera. Same thing happened. 
                          
After that was Zetsu. This fight was more interesting, not really. I stabbed white Zetsu, but black Zetsu escaped. I could sense where he was so I got the advantage. I waited for the right moment and stabbed him as well. I sealed him immediately after, knowing he can just slip away. 
                          
"I sense Tobi. But he's currently having a fight with Konan. One of them will die and we'll go after the other after they're done." I said. 
                          
Not very long after I spoke again. "Their fight is over. Konan is dead. But Tobi escaped into time space and I doubt he'll come out in awhile. I guess we can wander around and wait for Tobi to appear."
                          
Itachi nodded. 
                          
We wandered around everywhere for about 2 years and that was when Itachi asked. 
                          
"What do you want to do now? We can't stay wandering forever."
                          
"I don't know. Go back to Konoha? Most of them probably wouldn't accept me or you." I said. 
                          
"How about we go in another identity?" He said. "We can transform and restart as Academy students. At the same time we protect Konoha from the inside." 
                          
"Good idea. We'll do that then." I said.
                          
Itachi was coming up with covers for us. Fake names, appearance, back story and all that. 
                          
"You know, I did a little research the other day and found out about the Infinite Tsukuyomi. It requires all tailed beasts and Tobi is gathering them. I assume he's planning to launch the Infinite Tsukuyomi. It's a very strong genjutsu, even stronger than mine. I assume tobi wants to use it to create a world where peace truly exists. I believe there's more to it but we don't know. Besides, achieving peace through that way isn't true peace. It's a mere genjutsu. So I want to stop it. We'll be at Konoha, surely Tobi will need to get the nine-tails if he wants to activate that jutsu. When he shows himself, we'll just stop him and the world can continue living in reality." I said. 
                          
"There's that much to that? Pein only said that he gathers them so the world can be at peace. But he never explained something like that." 
                          
"Well of course. Tobi was using Pein so even Pein doesn't know." I said. 
                          
"This mission is to stop Tobi from getting the nine-tails, one that he needs to complete the jutsu." Itachi said. 
                          
"I would consider it as saving the world." I said. 
                          
He laughed at that.
