It must have been morning because I could smell breakfast already being made. I was still a bit tired but decided that I might as well get up so people didn't start to get worried. I changed into some more proper clothing and fixed my hair. I just stood there, staring at myself in the mirror. Memories flowing back at me about everything that happened. I slowly made my way to my door, took a deep breath and opened it.
As I made my way downstairs, I could hear people deep in conversation in the dining hall. I could hear Mason talking with his mother and Jake talking with his father. I ended up hearing a bit of their conversations, something about planning an attack against The Black Thorns. I immediately froze there, thinking about what The Black Thorns did to me, trying to get me to join them. I took a deep breath and put a smile on my face, ready to see them again in the dining hall.
They immediately stopped their conversations when they saw that I entered the room. Jake seemed relieved to see me up and walking.
"Good morning Iris, how are you feeling?" Harold asked.
"Better, thank you," I said as I took a seat beside Jake.
As I got some food, I realized that no one said anything. They seemed to not want me knowing about the attack they were planning against The Black Thorns. I wasn't too sure why though, I guess they just didn't want me to worry about it. Well, one thing was for sure, I was going to be apart of this attack.
"So when are you planning this attack against The Black Thorns?" I asked. Everyone just froze and Jake stared at me shocked.
"How...how did you know?" Jake said, obviously surprised.
"I'm not deaf Jake, this is a pretty big house. It's hard to have a normal conversation here and not have anyone hearing it." I said with a smile.
"Well since you know, yes, we were planning on attacking The Black Thorns. We weren't going to tell you because we didn't want you to worry, especially because of what you've already been through." Harold said.
"Well you shouldn't have to worry, I'm fine. I want to help you guys in any way I can." I said confidently.
"Good, because we could use all the help we can get. We might even be better off with you since you seem to have some sort of connection with them." Mason said, giving me a close look like he was trying to read my thoughts.
"We can sort out the details later, but Iris still has her technology training that needs to be done. You can meet your instructor down in the technology room when you're ready Iris." Harold said, giving me a small node.
"I should get going then, thank you for breakfast, it was lovely," I said, giving Katheryn a friendly smile.
"Do you want me to go with you?" Jake said with a concerned look.
"I'll be fine, but thanks anyway." I said as I left the dining hall.
I made my way down the hallway once again. The one that I was in before, everything being pitch black with seeing only a shred of light coming from under one of the doors. I stopped at the front of the hallway, realizing about all the things that happened here. I took a deep breathe and put one foot after the other on my way down the hall.
I walked by the entrance to the gym and the gun range, remembering what I did in those rooms, meeting Haley and Liam. Not too far from the gun range was the door to the technology room. As I got closer, I realized it was opened a bit, letting bright screen light out of the room. I walked over to it curiously, really hoping it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. When I got to the door I pushed it open and a pair of golden brown eyes looked up at me in surprise.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. I'm Iris." I said, extending my hand out.
"Don't worry about it, it's a pleaser to meet you, Iris. My name is Jackson, I'm in charge of computers and technology." He said, shaking my hand.
