ella had been in the clifford household for nearly four months now, and she was definitely going to need new things soon. luke had decided to go buy things, it was now around christmas time, so he could try and pull it off as a gift for his brothers new baby, who had just been added to their family. michael was skeptical about this, liking the idea if he was the one to go out, but luke insisted on it. he was the one who had decided to take her in, and he felt more responsible for her well being, plus it made more sense if he was buying his brothers gift.
                          
'at least let me go with you?' michael really didnt want luke doing this, but luke just shook his head in disagreement.
                          
'then who's going to watch her?' michael sighed as luke kissed his cheek.
                          
'ill be just fine mikey. dont worry'

luke got to the store fairly quickly, walking in and going toward the baby section. he was just praying no one saw him there. he scanned the aisles for what he needed, only to realize that diapers came in different sizes, not just 'baby'. he sighed and pulled at his hair while he tried to figure out what ella would be able to fit in. 
                          
'need some help sir?' luke jumped and turned to see a older male in a uniform staring at the diapers. he let out a nervous sigh and nodded.
                          
'my-my brother just received a baby, hes about a year old now, and im not sure what kind of diapers to get him' the worker, whos name was jared, looked back at the diapers and grabbed out a package of diapers.
                          
'her you are, these should fit, but if you find out they dont we can get you money back and a new pack. is there anything else i can help you with?' luke shook his head and said goodbye to the man before walking over to the clothes section.
                          
it hadnt dawned upon luke until this moment that stores didnt have girls clothes, so he had to settle for baby boy onesies. they werent horrible, but all he could think about was if ella wasnt detected before she grew older, she wouldnt have any clothes to fit into, seeing as girls and guys are..built differently.
                          
he grabbed around ten outfits before nervously making his way over to the register. he tried so hard not to blow his cover, but he was an overall nervous guy. he reached the counter safely, slowly laying his items on the belt before getting out his money.
                          
 'sir, did you just have a baby?' it caught luke off guard and he choked a little, looking back up at the guy at the counter before shaking his head. 
                          
'no, my brother just did, these are for him. i uh- i was indecisive' the man chuckled as he scanned the items. he gave luke the total amount and luke paid before thanking him and leaving the store. 
                          
he got the things loaded into his car before  getting in and taking a breather. he let out a sob as the anxieties finally hit him, because he wasnt as nervous in the store as he was right now. and god, if he had gotten caught, he could face jail time. he picked up his phone and dialed michaels number, listening to it ring three times before michaels voice was heard.
                          
'hi baby, are you alright?' luke just cried nervously, alerting michael.
                          
'baby did something happen? please talk to me, baby oh my god' 
                          
'im- im alright. im so nervous' michael sighed in relief, telling the boy to just breathe and drive home so he could hold him. luke thought that sounded good, so he put michael on speaker while he started his car.
                          
'okay baby, ellas starting to get fussy. i warmed her milk so im gonna go feed her right now. drive safe and ill see you when you get here.'

luke pulled into the driveway and grabbed the bags before heading inside. when he reached the door, he could hear michael almost shouting, but really he was just talking loudly. he opened the door to see michael pacing with a frustrated look on his face; he hadnt seen or heard luke open the door.
                          
'el, please just take the bottle, i wanna feed you so when luke gets home-,' michael turned and saw luke, throwing his head back and groaning, ' nevermind ella, take your time'
                          
luke chuckled and put the bags on their couch before picking ella up and waking over to michaels side. the older boy wrapped his arms around luke and kissed his and ellas forehead.
