LUNA'S POV

1701

My name is Luna Miralles and today is my day of parturition. What should be a day of celebration and extravagant parties will now be the beginning of a war. War of the Spanish Succession begins and little do I realize, this will change everything.

My heart flutters in my chest-I have always been able to see the future and in all my dreams-I see blood, massacres, tragedy and death. With every vision I endure, I am helpless to change anything. I am a woman, a fortune teller, a sister, a daughter, a wife, a servant, a nobody with no title. All I can do is watch everyone I love drop dead around me, over and over again.

Suddenly, a bomb goes off in the distance. Boom. Boom. Clap. Clap.

I wake up, instantly brought back to the present, my eyes darting over to the root of the threat. Amber is fast asleep on the floor, she is snoring louder than a lawn mower and farting sporadically. The smell is toxic. I throw a pillow at her face whilst gasping for fresh air.

Nicole chuckles to herself.

"You find something amusing?" I hiss.

"No," she giggles.

"How can you stand this?"

"You get used to it." She shrugs carelessly as if her best friend didn't smell like death.

Amber's bodily functions are enough to make anyone sick. She went on farting as if it she were alone in the comfort of somewhere private.

AMBER'S POV

"What was that for?" I complained, throwing the pillow back at Luna. My aim was never very good. The pillow fell on my face and I just lay there, pretending like that's what I'd intended to do. It smelt amazing, yes, I was being a creeper smelling someone else's pillow, simply the aroma was out of this universe. It was like heaven dipped in baby powder and lavender.

"It's time to leave," Luna snapped. Her eyes were shifty which raised a great deal of red flags in my mind.

"According to your vision," I did bunny ear quotations with my fingers, "I only have 24 hours left to live. Sue me if I wanted to take a little nap."

"That was twelve hours ago!" Luna seemed really irate.

"I won't disagree with you that I don't spend my time wisely, but it's my life. Let me live my life the way I want to live it."

Luna looked as if I slapped her in the face, her eyes looked glossy and her lips were disappearing into a fragile seam. She reminded me of a spartan, she was intimidating, and she kinda scared the crap out of me. For someone so short and dainty, she was every bit a female warrior.

"She's not that scary, she's only fourteen," Nicole chimed in unhelpfully.

Shooting daggers at my best friend, I quickly focused on Luna. She couldn't be fourteen-I've seen old ladies livelier than her. My own grandmother was once a national cage fighter and she retired at eighty, although I believe she still fights in secret.

My other grandmother is a hag with a broomstick up her bum. That lady is so evil she will live forever.

Luna on the other hand, was MORE elderly, bitter, and resentful. Some might say she's just mature, but I know better.

"I lived in a different era. Children were wedded and most people didn't live to see their late-thirties. At fourteen, if you weren't married with six plus children, you were on the dangerous path to spinsterhood."

"Did you," I felt uncertain of how to go forward, and I suddenly felt awkward for asking, "have children?"

Her eyes stared longingly at the floor, as if she was waiting for a hole to appear and she could disappear in it. I looked at Nicole to verify the stupidity of my question. She averted my gaze which only made me feel worse.

As if being cold-blooded gave her strong suit, she spoke calmly, "No. I never had children. My husband died from the black plague and I died shortly after."

"I-I'm sorry," I said awkwardly. What can you really say to something like that?

For some reason, the Ferris wheel in my head started to turn, slowly, but the rust started to peel away as my brain worked harder and faster, struggling to fit bits of a puzzle together.  I thought about Tim and all the screaming devils and ghosts in his past.   He had suffered so much.  Before I could so much as speak, it was like Luna read my mind.

"I realize that it was the same plague that Tim had, even though he suffered it in the 1500's, I endured it during the 1700's.  Sadly, it was the Illuminati that started Black Death. Vampires were rampant for a long time. Too many humans knew of their existence. Something had to be done. Soldiers and refugees were often victims of the infestation, but it wasn't just the military. Due to decreasing population in towns and villages in the country, it was almost impossible to resist enemy forces or to supply troops."

"For centuries, people tried to hunt Vampires and destroy them. Whenever people become aware of what's really in the world, there's an outbreak of some sorts. Our loved ones had to pay the price. This is why it's so important that we don't waste time. You can change everything and save countless lives. Imagine a world where Vampires and humans can coexist."

"I wish I could, but I won't be alive to see it," I said sadly.

Nicole looked like she was about to cry.

"I don't care what Luna says, I won't let that happen. I'll protect you Amber."

"You must accept the truth. In twelve hours-."

"Eleven and a half," I interrupted.

Luna mean-mugged me, causing me to pee a little. "In eleven and a half hours, Amber will die. The Illuminati will come for her and kill her."

Accidents occur, all adults pee themselves at times, right? We're all born to die, right? Knowing when and how I'm going to die, scares me, but I'll be damned if I don't go out in style.

Hello Readers! Surprise! I wrote another chapter... TEEHEE... wasn't feeling as lazy so I was like, why not? I hope you enjoyed this chapter as much I loved writing it. I felt like a real historian for a moment-sort of-but-not really. I made the stuff up about the Illuminati. The stuff about the plague and the Spanish Succession is all real stuff. Anyhoo, I regret to inform you that like most/all good things... this story will be ending shortly. I'm guesstimating another 10-15 chapters until THE END.

How do you feel about Luna? What is the plan? Amber has twelve hours left to live-will Tim be the one to kill her? Until Next time that I'm not lazy :)
