"We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future." -George Bernard Shaw
Erik's POV
When I found Faye she was talking to the other kids in the room. I didn't want to disturb her so I just watched from the doorway going deep in thought. She was finally coming around, being comfortable around others. Her nightmares still plagued her but that would last for awhile until she herself would be able to conquer it.
After seeing Faye overcome so much it had calmed me down enough to go back into the room where Minerva waited. She looked up to see me waiting there, ready for whatever she knew that could help me.
"There's a past of mine that I think you should know," Minerva said urgently.
"Continue."
"I believe the witch that is helping your brother is the Ominous Raina. I have a strong feeling she is responsible for cursing Faye and the death of Maeve."
The loud thumping of my heart became apparent in the room. The thought of the witch Raina being responsible for the illness Faye had, caught my full attention. I sat up in my seat with full interest. "Tell me what you know."
"The Ominous Raina didn't just get her name to sound malicious, she earned it. She's a very old witch that had practiced dark magic, thus altering her appearance to the ugly soul she is. She had been asleep this whole time until Maeve awoken her."
"Then how was Raina asleep all this time?"
"Because I was the one who put her to sleep. It nearly killed me, but my darling Zena was my only motivation to keep pushing through."
"I had heard of Raina before since my mother and her relatives told stories. Anyways, years later I was wandering through the woods being followed by somebody, it ended up being the love of my life, Virgil. He was an alpha and my mate, the first wolf, and witch joining ever paired up. Just like you and Faye were doubted and looked down upon, well we had gone through the same struggle. We didn't care though, we still loved each other and had our beautiful Zena. Of course, his pack would come up to me and say that I would curse the pack and my family. Their hatred for me was a beacon for her so she enhanced it, fed off of their fear taking their energy. She caused a curse in our pack, killing wolves. I cast a spell, branding her on the back of the neck to limit her dark curses from causing any harm to the pack. After restraining her of her powers, it took a toll on my body. Virgil was by my side the whole time until Raina out of spite took Zena. Virgil follower her in his wolf form while I was stumbling trying to keep up. Right, when Raina was going to sacrifice Zena, Virgil mauled her hand, scaring it, that's why all you see is the bone. I remember she cackled at his attempt and flung him off her. That was when I figured out why she was laughing. Virgil had witch blood in his mouth, within his system. It's almost like a poison that makes spells work faster more darker."
Minerva had tears going down her face. "She stabbed him with her special dagger that was dripping with some type of green liquid. He had staggered a bit, his body was trying to fight the mysterious serum. His insides were slowly breaking down, decaying away. So I did the only thing I could do, I used my own spell that I've never used before. I gave him some of my blood so he would feel my spell instead of hers. His wolf...well was different. His body was twisting and turning in ways I had never seen a wolf shift before. There was a darkness around him like a black mist as both spells were contorting him into something entirely. He was halfway through mutating when he growled at us, crawling as he tried to slash at me. He was wild and mean but still alive, he just didn't remember who he was or what we meant to him. I ran with Zena in my arms. I fought through the pain of losing him now all I remember is that chilling howl. I haven't visited since, too afraid to see what I did to him."
