Chapter 28: Goodbye

                                    

                                          
It had been a few weeks since Naruto had left.
                          
(Y/n) would go over to her old home, Naruto's apartment, and cleaned regularly.
                          
"(Y/n)! Are you in here?" Sakura's voice echoed throughout the rooms. "Yeah! Just finishing up!" the girl said as she finished folding up the laundry. She stood up and turned around only to see Sakura standing in the doorway with a smile on her face. "Tsunade-sama wishes to see you," she informed. "Okay, thank you." the Hatake said with a smile as she untied her long hair and placed on her mask. "Say... You've been on so many missions lately... And you've kinda been out of it for a few weeks now. Heck, you haven't picked a fight with me in over a month," she scoffed, "Is everything alright?" (Y/n) sighed as she grabbed her things from the bed. "It's just not having Naru around makes me worried..." she sheepishly said. "Oh, come on. He may be a knucklehead but he knows how to stay safe, plus, Jiraiya-sama is there to keep an eye on him. But you've lived without Naruto before, so I'm sure you know he's fine," Sakura said as she walked out the front door. "I guess you're right..." the Hatake mumbled. "Well, I'll see you later!" the pinkette waved before she went running off in a different direction. 
                          
"Another mission?..."

"Knock, knock, knock!"
                          
"Come in!" Tsunade yelled from the other side of the door
                          
(Y/n) walked inside as Tsunade sat at her large desk as usual. "You called me?" the girl said as she stood in the middle of the room. "Yes, another mission opened up and it seemed like you had the perfect skills to handle it without a problem," Lady Hokage said, reading the document that contained the mission details. "And what's the mission?" (Y/n) asked in curiosity. "An assassination of a self-proclaimed feudal lord. The villagers say a man with a large army invaded their village and killed the higher ranking ninja in order to have power over the village and the surrounding, smaller, villages. You'll be accompanied by three more jounin. The mission orders are to kill every member of the army and it's leader." Tsunade handed the scroll over to the girl. "Alright, I'll head out this afternoon," the Hatake said as she bowed. "Hey, (Y/n)..." She lifted her gaze to see Tsunade's eyes full of concern. "Is something wrong?" the girl asked. "You know... Asking for any mission that comes up, whether it be a chore or an important mission, isn't healthy... You never allow yourself to recover from any injury you get from a mission and just decide to walk it off saying 'It's fine'. And... these missions won't distract you from anything." (Y/n) raised an eyebrow, tilting her head to the side in confusion. "Distract me from what?..." she mumbled. "Don't play dumb with me... I've known you for five years, and never before were you so eager to go on missions so frequently. And I've known you long enough to know how you act when something is troubling you..." the blonde said sternly, but the worry was still clearly in her voice. "Alright, you got me... I'm just worried about Naruto... He left the village with the goal of getting stronger but when he has his mind set on something, he tends to push himself too far... Who knows what he's going through..." (Y/n) admitted in a low voice. "You're not telling me the whole truth, (Y/n)," Tsunade said as she crossed her arms, "Yes, you've been acting out of it since your brother left but, even if it wasn't obvious before, you've been different since Sasuke left."
                          
(Y/n) looked off to the side, slightly furrowing her eyebrows.

                          
"Am I wrong?"
                          
(Y/n) clenched her fists in frustration, not wanting to look up at the older lady. "Fine, yes... I haven't felt the same since Sasuke left," she said in a low voice. "It's not because I care about how he feels or what he happens to him... But because I made a promise I intend to keep... And I'm not going back on my word... Even if that means I have to sacrifice everything that I've fought so hard to build..." The girl had a sense of determination in her voice, masking the fear and pain she felt inside. "And why would you risk everything you have just to keep a promise?" Tsunade looked straight at the girl.
