Will's POV

In the morning Two looked quite tired, despite her saying she was fine it just made me more worried for her.
We sat together eating breakfast, El had already gone to Mike's house to hang out with the guys since it was the weekend, but I thought it would be best to stay with Two for the day. Jonathan offered to drive us to the shops if we needed to buy Two anything, so he was making breakfast.

I wondered if I should talk to her about the nightmares. She seemed pretty shakenp, but I would be too if I had just moved into a stranger's house, and the 'bad men' as Eleven called them, were looking for her.

I knew when I had nightmares, sometimes it helped to just share it with my friends, which nowadays was mostly Mike. But sometimes I just wanted it all to end, just to brood silently, or listening to my favorite music with Jonathon.

"Two, do you want to take about the nightmares last night?"

She looked up at me in slight confusion.

"Nightmares?" She asked slowly.

"yeah, they're bad dreams-"

"of bad things"

"Yeah, I guess you could say that. Everyone has them sometimes." I added. I was a person who had one pretty much every week, I just wish it was all over.

"Will?"

"Yeah Two"

"My name wasn't always two. It was (Y/N), before they took me away." She looked up at me in a sorrowful, distant look.

"Alright.  (Y/N), I understand if you don't want to talk about it, but just to let you know, you're a part of the family now. We can tell each other anything."

She smiled up at me, but then it dipped as she remembered the events of last night.

"I was weak. I shouldn't have been so... It was just a stupid dream" She spat out.

"No you weren't! " I felt the sudden need to defend her, I increased the volume of my voice to sound insistent, but not enough to shout at her.

"(Y/N), you're not weak. People have nightmares all the time. I have nightmares all the time. About that place, about the Upside-Down. And I can't stop them, and sometimes I feel like no one can help me, because it feels so real and I can't escape it. But I can help you... if you let me." I panted slightly, thankful that Jonathon had quietly slipped from the room.

Y/N looked up at me, her eyes glistened with unshed tears.

"Will. Don't you get it? I'm the monster" She said solemnly.

"I'm the reason you were stuck in that place... I created the Upside Down" She cried out.

"Why am I telling you this?!" She started crying, shakily, I reached out and held her hand.

"(Y/N), whatever you did, it's not your fault I was captured."

"Papa made me do it, he made me create the Upside Down. The bad place, it was me. It was in me, and then it turned into that dark shadow thing. I didn't mean to do it!"

"Then it's definetely not your fault! Don't you believe that for a second."

I looked into her eyes that were already starting to go red from crying.

"(Y/N), whatever you did, don't blame yourself. The bad men were controlling you, and, and- look, it's not your fault. I know we just met, but I know you. I know you aren't evil, and you're not the monster. They are." I got up from my seat, and hugged her, cradling her to my chest as she broke down.

Your POV

I told Will everything. How I made the Upside Down, but I didn't mean to create to the shadow monster that Will dreamed about.

I told him how I could travel there, sometimes in my dreams. They were real, but not real at the same time.

Will called them now memories, and I understood. Finally, I understood.

Will could never truly know the ordeal, how Papa had trained me for weeks before hand, killing plants, then animal after animal to exercise my control of the dead. That was something I could never undo.

But with Will, maybe we could conquer the Upside Down together. I looked up at Will's face. His cute bowl cut, whilst usually neat, was messy as he hugged me to his chest. I silently brushed his hair with my fingers, not noticing the blush that crept up his cheeks.

"Um... do you, I don't know, wanna do something fun today? Just to get your mind off things?" Will asked. I nodded, and he sat back down, but he still held my hand. It felt warm and comforting. Like the way my sister used to hold my hand as we'd read story books together when we were younger. But with Will, it seemed different. I stilled for a moment, remembering the two kids that were together, and then disappeared. But I looked at Will again, and he seemed so understanding, I smiled at him, silently conveying my thanks, before staring down at what was on my plate for breakfast.

"It's pancakes, they're sweet. Maybe you'll like them?" Will said, digging into his own stack.

I slowly lifted my fork and knife, copying Will's motions, pouring something he called 'syrup' onto my pancakes, and took a small bite. My eyebrows sprang up and I grinned a sweet, sticky grin at Will, and Jonathon who'd entered the kitchen.

It was the best thing I'd ever tasted.
