The head injury was the reason that he remained longer in the hospital than originally thought. With the extra bed rest ordered by the doctor, Mew would remain admitted and bedridden for well over a month.
Mr and Mrs Noomnoi kept in touch with Knock, he explained all the reasoning behind the extended observation. His close contacts with the hospital and the attending doctors kept him well informed of Mew's condition and prognosis. He spoke with them, at length, every day.

He was so careful when he talked. He did it in layman's terms so that Mr and Mrs Noomnoi wouldn't be frightened. Head trauma and possible internal bleeding or, the scariest of all, haemorrhaging, these were words he knew would terrify them.
Mew's parents knew this too, Knock treated them with kid gloves and his tenderness toward them and their situation were heartfelt. For them, his goodness was very transparent. They could see clearly that he'd asked the attending physicians to guard what they said and to pass on any unnecessarily worried or fictive questions they might ask.
Knock had also been correct in his diagnosis of a fractured sternum.
"The bone that attaches the first seven ribs to your collarbone can take months to heal. Forced immobility is really the best way to see to a perfect mend and remedy." Knock lightened things as much as he could manage. "Mew's not gonna like it, no dancing."
He told them long after Mew leaves the hospital he will have to convalesce and refrain from strenuous activity. Physiotherapy would do the boy good too, Knock could make the arrangements, and did.
Knock offered several times to come and see Mew again but his mother said he was in good hands. Korn, Mogi and Ter were all visiting and caring for him on a regular basis.
She giggled when she told him. "My husband and I have to schedule time with Mew, those boys all have their speciality."
She told Knock that Korn was the best spoon-feeder, Mogi was the sit, yack and entertain "forever" guy. Ter played his guitar.
Mew told his mother that his favourite thing was when Ter read to him.
"Knock, your schoolmate Korn, and his friends have been incredible."
Mrs Noomnoi used her finger to push Mew's bangs across his forehead. She could only smile, even as a kid he loved to be read to. She'd done it herself, thousands of bedtime stories. She'd animate herself and make all the character voices.
Over the first three weeks, Phubet made three trips to the Chon Buri hospital where his brother was resting. Mai had to stay home each time with the twins as they could not afford to house themselves in the expensive hotels. Phubet was offered a place in Korn's suite, while his parents still remained rooming with Mongkut and Ter.
