"I swear, it wasn't my fault," Cayson exclaimed.
"You blew up the poor man's boat," Nate said to him.
Grayson closed his eyes and tried to calm himself, then opened his eyes and looked at Lucille. "Our boys are idiots."
She shrugged.
"Then we'll just pay for it," Jonas said.
"With what?" Nate asked him.
"Money, duh," Jonas answered as he rolled his eyes.
He stood there with his arms crossed. I had to admit Grayson was kind of scary when he was quiet. Watching him was also fascinating.
He rubbed his face in frustration as Nate and his brothers argued. Then we heard him shout, "Enough!"
They stopped and looked at Grayson as did everyone else. He walked over to his boys and said, "Jonas and Cayson, you will pay for that man's boat, and if I ever see you with fireworks, I will stick my foot up in your ass, got it?"
"Y-yes, sir," they both stuttered.
"I am going to bed." With that, he went upstairs. We heard his footsteps, and the door slam shut.
"How pissed is Dad?" Nate asked Lucille.
"Well, I think a volcano couldn't match his anger," Lucille said casually.
I looked at Nash, "Your grandpa has a temper, doesn't he?"
"Yep, and it's worse than my dad's."
"Good to know."
With that, we all called it a night. I had a feeling this trip would get tenser now that Daddy Gray was here.
I woke up the next morning and wiped the sleep out of my eyes when I saw the boys run into my room and close the door. They looked petrified.
"Shh, we were never here, and you have never seen us," Nash said as they all hid.
I sat there confused as I heard a knock at my door.
"Come in!"
My door opened, and Grayson stood there. "Have you seen my lazy ass grandsons?"
Well, okay. I don't think that's how you should refer to the family, but I'll bite.
"And what makes them lazy asses? Just out of curiosity."
He gave me a stern look. "They sleep all day and can't bother to do anything. That's what makes them lazy asses."
I pulled the covers off of me and got out of bed, "So, what you're saying is that if they aren't up at the butt crack of dawn and doing whatever makes them lazy asses even though we're on vacation? Come on, Mr. Gray. You can be better than that."
I felt someone touch my foot, taking it and stomped on their hand. Grayson looked at me.
"It's a spider. A big spider," I blurted.
"Okay, Margaret, then explain to me what exactly they are?"
"They're a pain in the ass, but that's beside the point." I rolled my eyes. "I just think you're harsh on them and everyone."
"Oh?"
"Yeah, I mean, think about it. The family is all terrified of you. Grandpas are gentle and fun. Your stiff and not fun," I said with a hand gesture.
"I beg your pardon. I can be fun."
"Okay, then prove it," I challenged him.
"Huh, hang on," he said to me as he walked to the door and yelled, "Lucille?"
