chapter 25

                                    

                                          
I shake as Carter and Garret hug me. I feel safe in their arms but all I can see is my father's face as he is stabbed in the back over and over again.. with a silver knife. I wish I could get the image out of my head but I can't.
                          
I look over at my mom who is trying her best to smile at me. But I know she's worried about dad. I try to get up but fall. "I'm still too weak to walk."
Carter picks me up bridal style. "I'll carry you to the ends of the Earth." Garret rolls his eyes. Mom walks over and hugs me and Garret. "I just want to let y'all know I love you. Now and always."
Garret and I both smile. "We love you too Mom always and forever."
Mom and dad always said that to us before we went to bed at night. Now and always and always and forever.
                          
Garret looks past the door to make sure the coast is clear.
"Let's go guys we need to get out of here."
                          
We all head out and then realize someone didn't come with us. 
I look around. "Uh where's mom?"
                          
Garret turns around and mumbles. "Shoot. She stayed behind. She's probably going for dad."
                          
He turns to us. 
Y'all go ahead of me. I'm going back to make sure mom stays safe. Send back a couple of guards. They should have been here already."
                          
Carter and I head back and realize something has gone completely wrong. Carter hides us behind some bushes. My face goes pale. "Carter... Why are there dead vampires everywhere?"

Garret POV
I head back inside and suddenly I'm jumped from behind by three hunters. I quickly begin to fight them off but then I feel a stinging sharp pain in my back. I hit the floor instantly. I've been stabbed.
                          
I look up and see a hunter grinning at me. He kicks me in the ribs. I groan in pain. "So you're the high and mighty vampire King. I was expecting ... Hmm an older and much better warrior. I mistakenly thought it was your father." He turns to a guard and snaps. "Bring out the vampire and his wife. I think we should have a little family reunion."
                          
I look up horrified. Dad is covered in cuts and is bleeding badly and mom... Doesn't look any better. They apparently like to use sharp objects. Both of them are thrown to floor next to me. "What did we ever do to you?!" 
                          
The hunter kicks me again. "Shut up. All of y'all are a disgrace on this planet. You are monsters that need to go back to hell and that's exactly where we are going to send you." 
                          
I watch as a guard hands a .44 Magnum hand gun to the hunter. They like the classics that's for sure.. 
The hunter points it at my mother first. "Any last words woman?"
                          
She looks at me and then at dad. "I love you now and always.." 
Dad and I lean on her. " We love you always and forever."
Her eyes glisen with tears. "Tell Dawn I love her." 
                          
The hunter kicks me and dad away from her. He points the gun at her head. I shut my eyes and look away as I hear the echoing sound of a bullet fill the air.
