THE NEXT DAY was one of the worst days you could've ever encountered all fourteen years of knowing Peter Parker. He had been your best friend ever since the two of you met, and he was sure to confess about all his crushes, or secrets. It saddened you to hear him speak in such ways towards a girl that wasn't you, for so long. So when the two of you met up the next day to watch a movie at his place, just like he informed he wanted to yesterday, he openly admitted to what really happened at that party the other night.

You sat on his bed, leaning against the headboard underneath the blankets. He sat across the room in his computer desk chair, twirling around in it as the two of you talked about the party before the lights had gone out, and before you had 'left'.

He told you he went to Michelle, Abe and Charles, straying away from any drinks or jocks. 'Flash' Eugene Thompson being one of the many people he narrowly avoided for the entire night. Not only did he avoid drinks and the jocks, but he avoided all the attention craving girls. He informed you that he had his eyes firmly set on one girl in particular, and your heart crumbled right before you. Into a million pieces, possibly incapable of ever being able to be out back together again. But with the right amount of love, dedication, trust and loyalty, your heart would be back to one in a split second.

"Actually something pretty odd happened at the party before I left." He announced.

You turned to him, eyes wide open and a lump in your throat. "W-what happened?"

He slightly chuckled, "when the lights went off, someone kissed me. Michelle went crazy when she saw the person kiss me, and she's been trying to find out who it was."

"Well, she has always acted as if she had some secret crush on you. I wouldn't doubt it if she found the person, solely to kidnap them and not let them get anywhere near you again." You snorted.

"Yeah, that sounds about right." He chuckled. And soon, silence fell upon the room but it wasn't the sort of comfortable silence the two of you were so used to. It had some lingering awkward tension that had been basically begging to be noticed and resolved.

"What's up, ____?" He tilted his head, shifting slightly in his chair.

     "N-nothing."

"Is it because of the party? Did something happen at the party?" He questioned. Not yet finished with his interrogation, he added, "did someone annoy you? Was it a guy?"

You smiled at his protective best friend persona, "it's okay Peter. It's nothing."

"Well, I know it's something. Just talk to me about it when you want to, okay?"

You nodded your head, silence falling upon the both of you once again and you drifted off into a sudden daze that you didn't ever want to be disturbed in. You dreamed of the kiss, the perfect kiss that had you up all night replaying every single moment leading up to it. How he reacted had completely baffled you; he didn't push you off of him. But for the most of it, you dreamt of the future. If he were to ever find out, not only would the friendship be completely and utterly strained and possibly ruined, but you'd faced the rejection you had been dreading for years. You didn't want to feel that pain, especially from the boy who had always promised you he'd never do such a thing.

Never inflict pain upon his best friend. Whether that pain be physical, emotional or mental, it would never happen.

A loud set of knocks on his front door shook you completely out of your helpless daze, jumping up from you lying down position. He jumped up as well, "I'll get that."
