Verma's POV
"You knew? You knew?! How could you know?! Who told you?!" I yelled at her.
Matiena looked down, ashamed.
Well, she should be. I think when you know that your sister will almost be murdered by your own father, shouldn't you like, tell your sister about it so that all the drama could be avoided.
Lucky for her, she knew and was unharmed. I wasn't.
"Verma, it's not that easy to explain. You wouldn't understand. I swear, you'll think I'm crazy." She pleaded.
"I already think you're crazy by hiding what happened yesterday from me. Tell me, is there anything else that concerns me yet you're hiding from me?" I asked angrily.
My sister was silent for a moment before she started talking.
"I knew because of a dream. A dream that happened the same time it happened. So I couldn't really tell you."
She dreamt of what will happen to me while it happened.
What? How?
By the confusion in my face, Matiena confirmed something I never expected to her to do.
"I asked that ability from the witch of Ravenna."
The witch of Ravenna?
"Who is the witch of Ravenna?" I asked. I've never heard that a witch resided in Ravenna. Heck, I never even knew that there was any witch in this country! I thought they all lived in the East!
"The witch of Ravenna," My sister replied. "Is the missing Vestal Virgin that broke her chastity oath but escaped her punishment. Her real name is Vesethia from the house of Gersio. She trained to be a witch when she escaped to the Goths and return back here in secret to hide from Roman Authorities. Her husband amd family are left with the Goths but she will return shortly. She is just here for work."
"How were you able to meet her and ask for her ability?" I asked.
"She was working in a field one time and I noticed that she was the missing vestal priestess and then I approached her and threatened her, blah, blah, blah and then she gave me a dose which said that'll make me see something helpful for the future." She told me.
"But that's not all. Immidiately, after that dream, I saw a vision of you and your husband and child in poor people's clothes and it... bothers me to say the least. So I give this warning, do not choose both of the brothers as your husband. You have to choose only one. Your spouse on the dream was only one." She added.
I never really wanted to marry anyone but with my circumstances, I guess this marriage needs to happen.
"I guess," I said unsurely.
My sister just smiled at me sadly and stood up. She lent me her hand and said, "Come on, it's late we must go back."
I looked at her and smiled solemnly and took her hand.
"Fine, let's go."
------------------------------------------------
The next day, I chose to make my decision upon whom shall I actually pick as my husband.
"It's okay, Verma. You can do this, just say you pick him." I tried to convince myself.
Goodness! I never knew public speaking could be so nerve-wrecking! I pity all of those who do those things in the Forum.
I walked into the dining area and waited until all of the eight brothers, my sister and the two parents return.
As they all sat around the tables and started eating, I cleared my throat to get their attention.
