Chapter 23: A Surprise Visit

It really was an accident. Louis didn’t mean for it to happen. In fact, all he was trying to do was avoid the situation. He was trying to avoid drama but obviously drama in his life was inevitable. It was just a big mess that Louis didn’t want. Unfortunately, it was what he got.

It was the next day, Sunday, and Louis was home alone trying to cook. Liam had gone to the store and decided to take the boys along. He figured that Louis could use some peace and quiet as he cooked the Sunday family dinner.  Everything was coming along wonderfully as it usually would. That was, until the doorbell rang. Louis furrowed his eyebrows, wiping his hands on a towel and making his way to the front door. He didn’t look into the peephole, instead deciding to just open the door. When he pulled it open he was quite shocked.

Standing in front of him was Sam, a bouquet of red roses in his hand.

Louis was shocked because he hadn’t been answering Sam recently. Louis had stopped replying to Sam’s texts, answering his calls, or even listening to his voicemails. After they bumped into Sam, Louis realized that he wanted nothing to do with his ex. Louis loved Liam, a fucking lot, and talking to an ex-boyfriend would not be very good.

“S-Sam, what are you doing here?” Louis stuttered. Sam grinned, dimples prominent as he smiled.

“I just wanted to see you. You weren’t answering my calls.” Sam replied with a small frown. Louis nodded slowly, leaning against the door.

“I know.” Louis said shortly.

“Why not?” Sam wondered.

“Because I’ve been busy with my husband and family.” Louis emphasized the words, hoping Sam would get the hint.

“I really needed to see you, Lou.” Sam told Louis.

“It’s Louis, and maybe I don’t want to see you.” Louis remarked, crossing his arms over his chest sassily.

“C’mon just let me in to talk! I brought you red roses, your favorite.” Sam said, holding up the flowers.

“White roses are my favorite, actually.” Louis responded. Sam sighed, running a hand through his hair.

“Please, Louis? Just to talk?” Sam begged slightly. Louis gave him a skeptical look before sighing, nodding his head. Sam instantly grinned as Louis stepped inside and let Sam walk in. The two of them went into the kitchen, Louis grabbing a vase to put the roses in.

“Where is your family?” Sam wondered, looking around the large kitchen. He took note of the drawings on the fridge, the calendar that was marked up with different events, and the wooden floor that held some toys.

“At the store. Liam wanted to give me some peace and quiet to cook Sunday dinner.” Louis explained and Sam hummed in response.

“When will they be home?” Sam asked. Louis looked at him with a questioning look.

“I was just wondering so I could leave before they got home… you know, so you guys could have family time or whatever.” Sam shrugged. Louis saw right through his little façade.

“Why are you really here?” Louis deadpanned. Sam smirked, licking his lips quickly.

“I just couldn’t be away from you, Louis.” Sam confessed, standing up to walk towards Louis.

“I-I’m married, Sam.” Louis mumbled, starting to walk backwards. Louis’ back hit the counter and he froze, gulping as Sam came even closer. Sam’s arm went to rest on the granite countertop, effectively trapping Louis. Louis tried to wiggle away but Sam put a knee in between Louis’ legs to stop him.
