You were visiting your auntie and uncle at their place for a few days since you really didn't get to see them that often. You were glad that you had made the trip out there but you had gotten sick in that short amount of time there. You were laying in between the covers on the queen size bed in the guest bedroom, scrolling through your phone when you heard a knock on the door.

"Come in!" You said as loud as physically possible since your throat was sore. You watched the door as it opened and revealed your uncle standing awkwardly.

You and your uncle were very close since you had spent a lot of time with your uncle growing up. He was your mom's older brother and you saw your mom's family a bit more than your dad's so it helped bond a relationship the more time you spent together. Your uncle wasn't the serious type; he was always cracking jokes and trying to get someone to laugh or even smile but there was always that rare occasion where there were no more jokes and he had to be serious. You were almost certain that this was one of these times. He sat on the edge of the bed, causing it to sink slightly.

"Can we talk for a bit?" You looked to your phone and saw that Ethan had texted you again. You texted him back quickly saying "gtg brb" and turned off your phone.

"Yeah, sure! What's up?" Y/u/n took a breath before speaking so you sat up in bed.

"I don't want to seem like I'm lecturing you or anything but I want to talk to you about Ethan" You nodded your head, understanding that your uncle had something he needed to say, "I'm worried that he's not the best for you. I just want you to know that I love you and I don't want to see you get hurt." You tried your best to stay calm and not argue against your uncle.

"You know nothing about him, how can you say that he's not the best for me?" You kept your composure but you were barely keeping it together.

"Exactly, y/n, I know nothing about him. You never talk about him, you've never brought him to a family event so I kind of want to know how serious you are about him and how serious he is about you?" Your uncle was right, you never talk about Ethan and you've never brought him to a family event but you've had your reasons.

"I really do like him." Your uncle just sighed.

"Get some rest. I don't want to bombard you while you're sick." Your uncle got up and left your room, closing the door behind him. You wanted to scream and cry at the same time but you held it in and phoned Ethan; you needed to hear his voice.

"Hey babe, what's up?" You took a deep breath.

"I just needed to hear your voice." You tried to keep it together but your voice came out shaky and Ethan noticed.

"What's wrong? Is everything ok?" You took a deep breath again. Your responses took a long time and Ethan knew something was bothering you.

"I'm just sick of being sick." You said to Ethan but you and him both knew that wasn't the real reason.

"Whatever it is, it will get better. People love you, I love you, you are loved. Okay?" You smiled despite the few tears rolling down your cheeks.

"Okay." Ethan was silent for a few seconds before he spoke.

"I gotta go but I'll talk to you later. I love you so much." You quickly answered him.

"I love you too." You hung up fast and cried into your pillow. It was one of those cries where it wasn't happy but it wasn't sad. It was just you missing Ethan and being upset about what your uncle had said. It was just you letting out your emotions.

-

It wasn't surprising that you had fallen asleep since you were sick and you had been crying. You only woke up because there was a knock at your door.

"Who is it?" The door opened without an answer which caused you to open your eyes and see that your boyfriend had flown out to see you.

"Surprise." Ethan sat down on the bed and pulled you into his arms, hugging you very tightly. You stayed like that for a solid minute before Ethan laid you back down in bed and got up.

"Where are you going?" Ethan winked and left the room without answering your question. Ethan came back shortly with a bowl of chicken noodle soup in his hand and set it down on your night stand.

"I texted your auntie before I got here to make you some soup." You smiled and pat the bed so he would lay down beside you and he listened.

"Ethan, what are you actually doing here?" Ethan kissed your cheek.

"I missed you and I wanted you to feel better." You shook your head.

"You flew all the way from LA just because you missed me?" Ethan then added in,

"And because I wanted you to feel better." You laughed softly, not wanting to start a coughing fit.

"You know you could've just waited a few more days and I would've been back." Ethan nuzzled his head into the crook of your neck.

"I couldn't wait." You placed one of your hands onto Ethan's cheek.

"Of course." You both laid there peacefully, not knowing that your uncle had overheard the conversation.

-

You were feeling well enough to travel after a day spent with Ethan so you packed all of your stuff and got ready to leave for the airport with Ethan. Ethan was already in the car waiting but your uncle had pulled you aside.

"I'm sorry for what I said about Ethan. He seems like a nice young man." You hugged your uncle tightly.

"I'll make sure to talk about him more and bring him to more family events." You winked at your uncle which caused him to laugh, "Ethan's pretty funny so that's a plus too." You smiled and hugged your uncle one last time. You waved goodbye as you and Ethan drove off to the airport.

"I can't wait to get home." You grabbed Ethan's hand in yours.

"Home is where you are." Ethan laughed.

"Enough with all that cheesy stuff." You kissed his cheek.

"I love you." Ethan smiled.

"That's better, I guess." You rolled your eyes but smiled anyways.
