Jesse has been dragged by Toad for quite a while. Although he knew where this little mushroom being was taking him, he didn't know why he was being optimistic despite the catastrophic vortex in the sky. But he couldn't even figure it out. Jesse only assumed that he just saved him from three enlarged spiders that possibly tried to eat him. Either that or he was only asking for help, even though Toad suggested a man known as Mario will help him and Rainbow through their journey to save the universe as told by the little cube device that was given to him by their unknown ally.
Jesse started wondering about Rainbow. Ever since he saved Toad, he started to wonder what in the world was taking her so long to find him. But he hoped that he retrieved his sword from that strange rabbit riding the chicken they were chasing a while ago. But on the other hand, he wanted to know what happened to his dear friends. Probably, they were sent to different dimensions just like he is in this place called the Mushroom Kingdom. Jesse didn't know why he was brought to a place like this. Fate, probably. He doesn't know. Probably will never know why.
"Uh, Toad," Jesse said. "I appreciate your enthusiasm, but your world is under chaos by a vortex in the sky sucking up everything and spitting out random things. Why should you be happy through this event?"
"The Mushroom Kingdom went through a disaster like this before." Toad said in response. "There was a vortex like that in the sky, but it didn't do anything. All it did was grow and that was it."
"But did that vortex spit out anything that is not from your world?" He asked.
"Well, it did spit out the rabbids."
Jesse raised an eyebrow at Toad. "Uh, don't you mean 'rabbits'?"
"Nope. I literally meant rabbids. They're shaped like rabbits, but they're not ordinary rabbits. They don't do rabbit-like things."
"And what do these rabbids do for their free time?"
"From what I heard, they were all equally stupid. The Rabbid Invasion of the Mushroom Kingdom was a big event that only happened for a day, I guess. But Mario and his friends managed to save the day along with four other rabbids who helped. They were dressed like them and none of us know why."
"Huh."
The two suddenly stopped when they heard a rustle coming from a nearby bush.
"Toad, get behind me." Jesse said after he pulled out his bow and an arrow.
Toad obeyed him and looked from behind. Closing one of his eyes, Jesse aimed the bow and arrow at the bush. But what came out was a familiar face in bright colors and four legs. It was Rainbow Dash, and her appearance wasn't looking well. Her rainbow mane was ruffled up and was covered in leaves and a yellow sticky substance. It was probably honey, Jesse thought. Her blue coat was scratched and was covered in purple ink. Or was it paint? But the only thing Jesse noticed was that his sword wasn't in any of her hooves.
"Rainbow, where's my sword?" Jesse looked at her with crossed arms and a glare on his face.
"I'm so sorry." Rainbow said. "That rabbit was so fast on that chicken he was riding, I couldn't keep up. I burst through leaves, got coated in honey, I was scratched by the branches of the trees and these octopus people started firing at me with this purple ink stuff!"
Jesse raised both his eyebrows. So he was right. It was ink.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to disappoint you..."
"Rainbow, it's alright. That doesn't matter now."
The blue mare sighed, but when she saw Toad hiding behind Jesse, she couldn't help but ask, "Uh, who's your new friend?"
