Virgil sighed as he made his way to the theater room. Stupid Logan convincing me to do this... he froze in front of the doors waiting a few seconds. He suddenly was washed over with nausea. Oh God I can't do this..."Then where the heck is he?!" He head the voice of none other than Roman on the other side of the doors.
"Calm down Roman, he still has a few minutes." Erin, the student director of the play, stated calmly.
"I told Ms. Chance that it was not a good idea to cast him. Look we all got here at a respectable time and where is he? Not here. He doesn't take this seriously I know it." Roman continued to complain.
Erin sighed, she seemed to be losing her patience with his drama queen-ish nature. "Why can't you just give Virgil a chance. He was obviously chosen for the role for a reason..."
"Yeah no logical one..." prince replied. "He can't do it."
(A/N see what I did there^XD)Can't do it? I CAN do it! I'll show that stupid Prince. Suddenly the nausea was gone, He threw open the doors. Making them both snap their heads in his direction.
He automatically regretted all life decisions... there was no going back now....
"Virgil you're here, great!" Erin chirped happily.
"Yeah finally..." Roman muttered crossing his arms and looking away.
Erin flicked his forehead.
"Ow, Erin!" He scolded.
"Enough Roman." She said sternly. Her voice then softened and she smiled. "Virgil you and Roman can come with me we've got your scripts."
"O-okay..." Virgil replied following her through the theater, Roman also trailing along, a stubborn pout on his lips, as he rubbed his forehead.
"Oh great you're both here!" Ms. Chance said as they approached her. "Here are your scripts. Jamie took the time to highlight your parts for both of you."
"You're welcome." Jamie sighed as she was furiously trying to organize other papers. She looked stressed... they figured it best not to bother her.
"Alright you two!" Ms. Chance clapped. "On stage now take your scripts, we're running lines!"
Virgil slowly followed Roman and Erin onstage.
"We already ran the first few scenes during auditions, so let's start at scene 62 okay?!" Ms. Chance said as she sat down in one of the audience chairs waiting to watch.
"Alright, you two are across from each other." Erin put them in place as they furiously turned pages to find their lines.. "You are part way into your journey and this is one of the first moments you two start growing closer, you're characters are finally coming to terms with one another" she turned to Virgil noticing his nervousness and smiled. "This is just practice, and your just following the lines, so it's okay if it's not perfect." She then stepped off the stage joining Ms. Chance.
"Roman it's your line, aaaand action." The teacher yelled.
Roman cleared his throat before putting on a smile. "We did it Eliphas! Now on to the Royal city!" He took a few steps away before turning back to Virgil{Eliphas} "What's wrong? Shouldn't we continue our journey?"
Virgil felt himself shaking before glancing down at the script. "We should... it's just..." he felt like he could die right then and there. He swallowed the lump in his throat feeling like he could cry any second at the thought of everyone watching him, but he held it back.
Roman approached him. "Just what? You wish to see the king right?"
"I do... but... I-I'm scared..." Virgil felt his voice waver, and thanked god it actually worked with this scene. He felt like he could be sick. He tried to ignore the stares, pretend they weren't there, but he couldn't. How the hell was he gonna preform in front of an audience if he can't even do it in front of a smaller group.
Roman slightly broke character for only a moment to give him a strange look before clearing his throat and going back to the script. "Scared? Of what?"
"The people in the Royal city!" Virgil stated trying to focus on following the script. "I'm not like you Alexios. I'm not a prince, hell, I'm not even human. I'm a warlock. I'm not exactly going to get the warm welcoming you're used to... people don't... well they don't get me... and when humans don't get something they tend to try and shun or destroy it."
"Eliphas..." Roman stepped toward him and took his shaking hand, like it said to do in the script. When he actually noticed just how much it was shaking he held it a little tighter.
Virgil noticed this. He found himself debating in his mind as to why. Was Roman actually trying to comfort him, or was he just trying to keep his hand from shaking and ruining the scene.
"Everything is going to be fine. Nothing will happen to you as long as I'm around." Roman read his next line.
"Aaaand CUT!" Ms. Chance shouted.
Virgil slid his hand out of Roman's grip letting it go back into his hoodie pocket.
"Good job!" Ms. Chance clapped with Erin. "Let's give those two a break and go to scene 65! Charlie, Aaron, you're up!"
"Yes mam!" The two replied before scattering to get their scripts.
Virgil looked up to see Roman still giving him a weird stare. "What?" He asked harshly.
"Nothing... just... that was really good. You played the character well." Roman complimented.
Virgil widened his eyes for a second, surprised by the nice comment. "Yeah well... thanks I guess." He replied before quickly leaving the stage.
Told you I could do it.
