Chapter 7 - Who Knew
Being Kidnapped Could be so Boring and Tolling?Panda's P.O.V.
I have only one thing to say. Who knew being kidnapped could be so boring? There was nothing to do. No books, movies, video games, electronics, or music
Music was the biggest problem for me. My life revolved around music. Without music, I crumbled to nothingness. All I did was sit next to Liam in complete boredom. Why did I have to be kidnapped? I'm not usually a selfish person, but I really wished it was anyone but me right now. I worked so hard to be different from my stuck up parents, and this is what I got for it. It's so unfair!
Life isn't fair, I remind myself. Stop complaining.
I'm snapped from my thoughts by a pair of heavy footsteps nearby - on the stairs, maybe?
Liam is still asleep beside me, and I don't have the heart to wake him after he got shot in the leg, so I carefully scoot away from him before rolling into the corner. I rethink my plan and hide behind the whipping thing, peering ever so slightly around the side of it.
This time only one bloke comes in, but the gun is holstered in his belt. He closes the door behind him and surveys the room, frowning when he notices my "absence".
He opens the door again and calls, "Jared? John? Did you take the girl?"
There's a muffled "no" from someone upstairs, and I take this as my chance to leap on the bloke. I land on his back, and I pull the gun from his belt as quickly as I can without dropping it. I press the barrel to his throat, my finger hovering over the trigger. I'm not very good at aiming, but I figure if I'm this close to the guy, I can't miss.
"One sound and you die," I threaten in a quiet voice, very aware of the open door and the fact that sound could travel to the other two blokes.
"You wouldn't shoot me," He says in a subdued voice, letting out a wary chuckle.
"Why do people keep saying that?!" I demand, quoting Tris from my favourite movie and book, Divergent.
Then I press the the trigger with shaking but unhesitant fingers. The gunshot is louder than I had realized before, and I flinch at the sound.
I leap off the dead bloke's back just as he collapses to the ground, aiming the gun towards the door. I slowly back up to settle into a protective crouch in front of the still-sleeping Liam. I put the gun on the floor in easy reach and scoop my jacket out from under Liam's head. I pull the jacket on as Liam awakes.
"Get up! He's dead! We're leaving! Now!" I whisper shout, trying hauling Liam up from the ground using his hand.
I toss the blanket to him and somersault towards the door, grabbing the gun as I go. I try to aim it towards the door, but pain from my many injuries takes over after the reckless move, and I have to take a few precious moments to gather myself. I'm still aware of all the injuries, but I force myself to sneak up the stairs after checking to see that Liam is following me.
We get up the stairs easily, but I make myself stop at the top when I hear voices, motioning for Liam to do the same before he runs smack into me.
Apparently the other blokes haven't heard the gunshot or realized their accomplice was dead by my hand. That's sheer luck.
I tune back to the voices in time to catch the end of a sentence.
"-he's good down there with the gun?" Either Jared or John says.
"Yeah, he had the gun, like you said, and they're both hurt. Cole will have no problem handling them, John," The other - Jared - says.
"Okay. D'you fancy some fresh food, then? These are getting stale," John asks, and there's the crinkling of a bag of, presumably, crisps.
