"Yes." I hugged my brother and my best friend goodbye, taking Aiden's extended hand and walking away.

"No way! This is where you're taking me on our first date?" I exclaimed. I wasn't mad, I was actually really excited at this cliche.
We had driven for over 30 minutes and was now pulling into a parking lot. We got out of his 2012 black Ford Explorer and started walking towards Santa Monica Pier.
It was 8 o'clock so it had become a little chilly, especially since it was sea side. Aiden held my hand as we walked on the sidewalk across the sand and towards the pier. When we reached it, there were many people but it wasn't packed.
Even though the rides were made for children and teens, we rode every single one at least twice and enjoyed it. We even took the time to stop at a small photo booth and take 4 silly snapshots. It was around 10 when the rides started to turn off and close. We quickly got slurpees and hot dogs and headed to our car.
"Do you want to go home or stay for a little while?" he asked me when we reached his car.
I was having so much fun and this simple date made me fall even harder for him. "We can go around the beach if you'd like."
"Sure." he smiled at me, sipping at his slurpee.
I didn't want to mess up my boots so I slipped them and my socks off and left them inside his car. Barefoot, we walked on sand and went to where it met the water.
Our hotdogs were long gone when we reached the water. The sand tickled and stuck to my feet as the cold water hit it. Shivering, I was now regretting getting a slurpee at such a cold night.
"I love beaches." I said. A few feet from the water, I sat down on dry sand and buried my feet in front of me. Ah, they were warm now.
Aiden sat down next to me and leaned back on his elbows. "So do I."
We sat in comfortable silence for who knows how long. It was always like this with him, nothing ever felt awkward. I wondered what he was thinking about, he was always in deep thought but then he'd smile at me and it was like anything he was worrying about was forgotten.
"What are you thinking about?" I asked him curiously.
He didn't react, simply just stared at the ocean. "You."
I guess I was kind of expecting that answer. "What about me?"
"You ask to many questions, you know that?" he laughed.
"So answer."
"I've waited a long time to take you out, Blair."
Now that answer I didn't expect. I didn't even know that he wanted to go on a date with me, he definitely never showed it.
"Why did you wait until now?" Finally, the question that has been haunting my mind finally came out. Aiden was quiet, he didn't move or blink. "Aiden?" I called him.
"Do you miss your dad, Blair?" he said quietly. My eyes widened at his question. What? I don't understand what my dad has to do with this situation we were in. Why can't he just answer my question?
"Yes, of course. Everyday." And that was true. There was not a day that went buy that I didn't think about how different things would be if my father was around..
"What would you do if he came back?" Aiden was still staring straight ahead. It was completely dark now. Except for the street lights, the pier and beach were blackened.
His question didn't even make sense. Her dad can't come back, he was dead. "That's impossible."
"I know. But what if he did?"
I thought for a moment. It never really came to mind since it was clearly not possible for my father to come back from the dead. "I don't know. I would be really happy. I'd catch him up on everything that happened since he went away.I'd tell him how much I missed him, how much I love him. I'd ask him how heaven was, if he met Grammama. And I'd ask what his last thoughts were before he, you know..."
Aiden nodded and he finally looked at me. "I like you, you know."
Wow. He was just straight up and blunt about everything tonight, wasn't he?
Wait, what'd he say? Did he just say he liked me? "You what?"
"I like you, Blair. And not in a friendly way." He sat up and cupped my face with his hands. "I like you as in your lips look so damn delicious that I want to forget about breathing and just never stop kissing you. I like you as in every time I see you, you literally take my breath away. You're so incredibly beautiful, Blair, and you don't even know it."
Aiden's eyes darkened and his face was so close to mine that his breath mingled with mine. "Can you please kiss me now?" I whispered.
He laughed a little. I still felt the smile on his face as put his lips on mine. His lips were cold and tasted of cherry and coke from his slurpee. He kissed me hungrily and I responded with the same intensity.
I didn't know how I ended up laying down on the sand or how long we were kissing but my life couldn't feel any better than it did at this moment.
