James Potter rolled over and faced the ceiling, which was all too bright on Monday morning at 9.30 AM. Although James was popular and aced everything from History to Physics to PE to Art, he was still bitter about early mornings. Sirius, on the other hand, went to bed roughly 2 PM every night and woke up at 7 AM, never tired or cranky. James sometimes wondered whether he had some sort of drug implanted in his morning coffee. Yeah. He was too tired for this shit.

''Yo, Prongs.'' Sirius said, jumping on James' bed and messing up the pillows which James ad perfectly arranged before falling asleep.

''What the fuck do you want?" James mumbled, sitting up and stretching.

''Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed.'' Sirius said, snickering.

''There's only one side to the bed, idiot.'' James pointed out, gesturing at the wall that the bed was pressed up against.

''Shut up.'' Sirius said, rolling his eyes before jumping back off James' bed and putting his school tie on loosely. ''We only have 15 minutes until we have to go, so get your ass up.'' He said, shaking out his hair now before turning on his heel and walking to the kitchen, most likely to talk to James' mum.

James got ready in about 5 minutes and walked into the kitchen, where Sirius was sitting on the bench eating a bagel, and Euphemia Potter was talking to him, laughing and eating a bagel of her own.

''Good morning, darling!'' James' mum said, giving him a hug before James could get into his food.

''Hey, mum! How are you?" he asked, and his mother smiled.

''I'm fine. I was just telling Sirius here how you used to sit in here and have baths with the dishes! You thought they were your friends and talked to them.'' His mum said. He groaned. She often told Sirius things like this, as they both loved nothing more than bullying James together and then laughing about it later.

''MUM! Why would you tell him that?'' James said, and Sirius cracked up laughing.

''I'm never going to let that go.'' He said, wiping tears from his eyes. James rolled his eyes and picked up his bag and walking out to his and Sirius' car. While his best friend finished his breakfast, he would heat up the car, and that's what he did. It wasn't a particularly cold morning, but he was just a naturally cold person, so he always put the heat on.

''Hi,'' Sirius said about five minutes later, sliding into the passenger seat of the car.

''Hey,'' James said, pulling out of the drive way and beginning the journey to school.

''do you think hamsters get urges to kill?'' Sirius randomly asked, his silver eyes looking over at James thoughtfully.

''Are you sure you aren't tired?'' James said, laughing at Sirius' randomness.

''James mate, I am a natural insomniac who knows nothing of sleep deprivation. I'm never tired.'' Sirius said, opening his car door as they pulled up to school. James laughed again.

''Lucky bitch. Anyway, I need to go to the Art and Music office to hand in my application for art school. I'll see you in Language Studies.'' James said, and Sirius nodded, wishing him good luck for the application.

James watched Sirius enter the building safely before walking off towards the A and M building. He stepped inside the office; the smell of paper and paint was almost as evident as the sound of clicking keyboards and electric sharpeners. As James waited in line, he saw a face he hadn't seen before. Being the curious person that he was, James watched as the girl adjusted her backpack straps.
