"So you think it'd be better if the wedding was in London and not Paris?" I asked Josh as we were lying down on the green grass of the park.
"Yes, it'd be better. Besides, there's a lot of amazing places here in London. We can go to Paris on our honeymoon." I turned my face to look at him.
He had a smile on his face as he stared up at the sun. I placed my head above his torso and exhaled deeply. His scent filled my nostrils and nothing could be any better from now.
We were lying on the grass of the park beside my home. It was small and rarely visited, that's why I and Josh often come here; to lay down in the peace and quietness of it all alone.
"Come to think of it, I don't really care about the place where the wedding would take place. I don't care about anything there as long as you'll be with me, as my husband." His fingers brushed my hair slightly and my lids felt heavy.
"And you'll be my wife." He whispered, but I could hear it and smiled; the thought itself makes me happy. "And none would ever take you away from me."
"I won't let them." I mumbled, reassuring him.
Silence engulfed us, but it was never an awkward silence; it was a comforting one. I could hear the beating of his heart and could feel the warmth radiating from his body. The sun rays fell on us, but his warmth was much greater than the sun's.
Nothing matters when I'm with Josh, nothing matters at all. In the real world, there's a lot of problems and obstacles standing in our ways, we always think too much about probably everything. We always worry ourselves without a reason. But when I'm with Josh, I forget all my problems, all the obstacles and all the worry seem to fade away.
It's like he takes me by my hand and pulls me towards another world; an imaginary one for only the both of us. He makes me smile even when I'm on my worst state, he's able to help me more than anyone and he's the only reason my heart's beating.
I've always wanted a relationship just like my parents' and I guess I have a better one now. I've always wished for someone who'd love me, someone who'd hold me if I fall and here he is beside me. Whenever I try to define the perfect man, an image of Josh pops up in my head and I'm pleased to know that this perfect man asked me to be his wife, to be with him forever; for good and for worse.
"I love you," I whispered in his chest, but I know he could hear me very well. "I love you more than anything."
"And you know that I love you even more," I smiled, ready to argue with him about who loves the other the most.
But before I could say anything, a loud ear-piercing noise erupted somewhere near, causing us to jolt up from our previous position. It was unusual hearing this kind of sound in here, especially when none even visited this park. I stood up straight, looking around me cautiously before turning my gaze towards Josh.
His blue eyes were wide, indicating that he too had heard that sound. What was really creepy is that he looked somewhat frightened, afraid? The look in his eyes showed fear in them; an emotion I’ve never witnessed in Josh’s eyes.
“What was that?” I asked, wishing he knew something or that it was probably nothing so we could lie back down on the grass.
“I- I,” He started saying, but was cut off by that horribly loud sound. This time though, I figured what it was; a gun-shot.
Panic swept all over me, filling every vein in my body. Shivers ran down my spine and I let out a shaky breath. What’s going on? Josh stood and started looking around him. I don’t want him to stand up. What if something bad happens? What if he got hit? I wonder who would be shooting guns in this peaceful area by this time of the day.
