Imagine Neville standing up to you when your brother, Ron, teased you about not having red hair. Being a Weasley, it was a huge shock for your parents when you came out of the womb, wailing and crying, grabbing and pulling at your jet black hair. Not that it really mattered to them, but they were still really shocked. As you grew up, however, Ron didn't really think it didn't matter; in fact he thought it mattered very much.

"I still think mummy and daddy adopted you. Well, actually, my mummy and daddy, not yours."
"No! They're my mummy and daddy too! And I'm not adopted!"
"Yes you are!"
"No I'm not!"
"Yes you are!"
"NO!"

You and Ron were only five back then, but it still hurt your feelings and it had stayed stuck in your mind right until now. But now it had been ages since Ron had brought that topic up, so it was a shock to hear him do it again. Typical Ron. Zero tact. Neville, however, unlike Ron, had some pretty good tact.

"Looks like mum got you one, too. Maybe it means she's officially accepted you into the Weasley clan. Although that was a rather crazy move. Note to self: tell mum a Weasley can't have black hair."
"How dare you!"
"I dare! I've been ignoring it for years now! But I just can't stand it! It's ridiculous, Malfoy thought you were a Parkinson."
"You shouldn't have s-said that."
Neville's head popped out of a corner, his voice quivering.
"Neville! Family business, do you have to stick your nose into everything?"
"Ron, don't be so rude!"
"I-I'll fight you!"
