Week Four: Senior Year

Last final. Another day, another 'please bubble in the format provided, if you erase your answer do not make a new blah blah blah.' I had heard that so many times that if this wasn't the last day I might puke.

Jake and I arrived to school late for...reasons... and when we got there I stared at the sight in front of me. It was school Armageddon. The hallways were full of little white plastic cups filled to the brim with water. The stairways were covered in butter.

Some of the worst teachers rooms were covered in bubble rap, silly string, and tin foil. There was a room that, and don't ask me how, had an entire boat sitting in it. Papers of our principals face lined the hallway. He was wearing a photoshopped sombrero and had hair. Balloons covered the bathrooms and any place that was behind a door. Different animal sounds came from lockers. I heard at least ten cows mooing and twenty cats.

Jake snuffled a giggle when Mr. Reyes ran out of his room screaming. Inside we're about ten million hot pockets. Some were even stapled to the wall and ceiling.

When I entered my testing room it was filled with ice-creme cake. Everyone was laughing because when the teacher returned to sit in her seat an air horn honked so loud the attendance officer had to make sure that it wasn't a gun shot.

I knew that Jake had done one of these pranks with a friend of his. I just couldn't figure out which one. I finished my final exam quick as I could. I still didn't care to know who the hell Alexander Hamilton was and what he did to make this nation so great.

It was a lot of bs, and I'm so glad it was over.

The principal came over the loud speakers and gave a speech out how whoever let chickens in the Band room needed to apologize to Mr. Shneebly. He had to pull them out of a tuba.

The school bell rang for the last time I'd hear it. I smiled and looked around. Some kids were making out in the corner. Others were kicking over water cups and giggling joyously. The janitor in the background was looking over this as if she wanted to die.

I found Jake and our lips slammed together. We could barely contain our excitement. I took his shirt into my fists and pulled him down as he rested his hands on my shoulders. The kiss was bitter sweet and serene as masses of children screamed and laughed in the halls. We had made it.

This was the beginning of our lives. We had made it through hell.

Shortly after Jeremy and Michael walked over. They were giggling and pushing each other playfully. I figured that they spent the release time from school in the janitors closet smoking and making out. Those two pot heads were having the time of their lives.

Jeremy offered me some, but I turned him away, I didn't smoke.

We talked to them about the senior pranks and Jake giggled as the principal walked by screaming into his phone that ,"NO THE SCHOOL ISN'T FOR SALE!"

Jake snuggled against me as Brooke, Chloe, Christine, and Jenna came over. Our group of losers and no bodies. Popular kids and wanna-be's. Now we were just people. Nothing separated us from being anything other then who we were.

"Rich? Riiiich!" Chloe smiled amused. She waved her hand in front of my face and I pushed it away, smiling back.

"What?"

"You looked a little far off dude, you okay?" She said glancing over the group. They had all gone silent. As if I was about to make a speech that summarized all of the year.

"Uh," I looked at Jake. He looked at me. "Yah, I'm fine, I wath juth thinking."

"About what?" Jenna interjected. For once I didn't see Chloe snap at her to shut up.

"Well...it hath been a long four year-th with you all." I took a moment and hesitated. Out of all the people in the group why did they think I was good at speeches. "I hope that we all can keep in touch, and that all of you live the greateth liveth ever...Uh..." I didn't know what else to say, luckily Jake took pity on me.

"Well said my dude! Now who wants to go to my favorite restaurant SM-"

"ALL IN FAVOR OF GOING TO WENDYS!" Christine yelped. We all raised our hands, a few letting out an enthusiastic 'i!'

Jake looked deeply disappointed, but I told him we could go to his favorite restaurant later. He smiled and nodded as we followed the clan to Wendy's.

We all took separate cars so when we arrived we could order in the take out line and eat in the parking lot. It was a little strange, but I sat in Jakes lap. I was eating a burger when I felt something poking me. I looked around and Jake smiled, reassuring me it was his phone.

"Hey guys! I heard in Discovery that you can't actually stop a swinging sword with your bare hands without getting cut!" Michael said finishing off his nuggets.

"Why would any of us need to know that Michael?" Jenna laughed.

Chloe rolled her eyes. "You know what I heard. Hot girls don't usually care about what's on Discovery channel, and most of the time don't want to hear about sports either." She looked at Jake and I could hear his mouth shut.

"Well, does everyone know what's going to happen now?" Christine said after a beat of silence.

Jeremy shook his head, "If only it were that easy. I don't know what's going to happen. In one summer all of us will be gone different places."

Brooke looked sad, "Yeh, except for you and Rich! You're going to the same college right?" She said looking hopeful.

"I don't know if I got in, I didn't apply till early admissions were over." I said.

Jake laughed, "At least we'll keep in touch!" He held up his phone. "Pass this around, I'm creating a group chat for all of us, and no one should get kicked out." He looked at Chloe. She had kicked Jeremy out least year as a joke.

Once we all were finished we climbed into our cars and drove off. I really hoped it wasn't goodbye forever.
