"Lonnie, what's the holdup?" You let out an exasperated sigh, your arms crossed around your (outfit of choice). Currently, you leaned against the back wall of your dorm entrance, pumped and ready to go to the end of the quarter party. You had decided to keep it simple, wearing your favorite outfit instead of going for something over the top. This wasn't some formal school dance where you were trying to impress someone. It was a party to have fun with your friends. Besides, no matter what you wore Carlos would still be there for you. You could be yourself.

On the other hand, Lonnie was freaking out. You heard a yelp and another cry for "five more minutes!" from the bathroom where your friend had been hiding for the past thirty or so minutes. Concerned for your friend, you sauntered across the room and knocked on the restroom door.

"Lonnie, do you need help?"

You heard the door unlock and stepped to the side. Lonnie poked her head out while brushing her brown locks down. "I don't know what to wear," she admitted. "Like, should I dress fancy? But then it'd be hard to dance...but what if I'm too casual?"

You sighed, "Lonnie, just be yourself."

"But Jay-"

"Honestly, Lonnie, I don't think Jay minds what you wear. You shouldn't worry about whether or not he likes how you look. Sure, Jay falls for physical appearances often, but I think it's the heart and spirit that counts the most." You smiled at your friend who looked at you skeptically. "Plus, if he only likes people for their looks, forget him. You don't need such a hopeless guy in your life."

Lonnie gave you a crooked smile, "(Y/n), if I ever get in a mood like the one before snap me out of it."

You gave Lonnie a questioning look, "What sort of mood?"

She stared at you, wondering if you were being serious, "Obviously the sappy love struck mood."

"Of course. Now, get your sulky self to work and let's go to this party."

She pouted at you. "You just want to see Carlos."

"That's not all true-" You threw your hands in exasperation. Why did everyone have to bring Carlos into everything? Were your feelings that obvious to them? Or was it because of your confession in front of the school? You rolled your eyes at your friend. If anything, you probably were teased a lot because of the reactions that you gave.

"But it isn't a lie either!" Lonnie shut the door with a faint, teasing smile and started to change into what she wanted to wear.

Jane's plan and design committee really went all out on the party decorations. Streamers flowed from the inside ceilings to lamp posts outside of Auradon Prep. The back kitchen connected the inside party room (complete with blaring speakers and flashing lights) to the serene pathways that circled around the dining tables positioned around the moonlit tourney field. It was a mix of royal balls and high school prom dances. You were surprised that the committee could agree with such terms, much less set it all up. It was like a dream come to life.

You and Lonnie made your way to the party, the cobblestone path lit by flower-shaped lanterns that hummed with a faint glow of white light. Lonnie had decided to adorn herself in a royal blue dress with floral patterns twisting all around it. The design was similar to the one she'd worn to Ben's coronation party: simple and flexible, yet trendy and full of energy. It fit her persona beautifully, and you couldn't have picked out another outfit that could pull off the same effect that it had. In other words, she was beautiful, and no one would be able to convince you otherwise.

"That took you way too long to get changed into, but it seems to be worth it in the end," you teased her. Lonnie rolled her eyes and playfully jabbed you in the side, which earned her a squeak from you.
