"How are you even allowed to drive!?" I laughed as Mitchell and I sped down the road.
"I'm not." He smiled. "I just know how to."
The wind blew in our faces with the top down car letting the warm sun hit us.
"If we get caught - I am so ratting you out." I said.
"Oh come on, don't you think you owe me one?" He asked, looking over at me.
"True." I began. "So where are we going?"
"Wherever the road takes us."
********
BACK AT THE CAFE:
"Okay okay - you actually weren't potty trained until the age of 6?" Monika burst out laughing.
"It's not my fault!! My parents couldn't be arsed to teach me." Ishmael said in his defence.
"Oh sure. Blame the parents." Rosalie said, sipping her milkshake.
"At least I know to piss in the toilet." Ishmael began. "Keegan, I'd be careful you know. With the way she's drinking that milkshake, who knows when she's gonna go."
Everyone was creasing in laughter and screaming 'ohhhh' as Rosalie shot Ishmael a death glare.
"Where's Mitchell and Aria gotten to?" Angel asked. "Like we're almost done eating and they ain't back yet."
"Looks like Rosalie ain't the only one getting some action tonight." Monika smirked.
"WOULD YOU GUYS QUIT IT?!" Rosalie shouted as everyone tried to hide their laughter.
"Wait so how is that gonna work..." Ramon muttered, making various disturbing gestures with his hands.
"Okay we're leaving you guys." Selina said, shuffling as far from Ramon as possible.
"Ugh we have to walk home?" Rosalie moaned.
"Unless you want Keegan to carry you home." Ramon winked.
"Don't put it past her." Monika and Selina said in unison.
"OH GOD NO - SHE'S KILLING ME AS IT IS." Keegan whined before silencing himself upon Rosalie's death glare.
"I have my car." Abram said.
"How are you even allowed to drive?" Angel asked.
"Just because we have cars doesn't mean they're legal." Ishmael said.
"Ugh fine - Abram's driving though - he seems like the only one who's the least bit sane out of you guys."
"What about Mitchell and Aria?" Selina asked.
"They'll be fine." Keegan said, straining to get Rosalie off his lap. "God my legs have gone frigging numb."
"But-" Selina began again.
"They'll be okay Selina - don't worry about it." Monika said.
*********
The sky was slowly starting to fade from bright blue in to warm yellow and orange tones as Mitchell and I drove past a cattle farm.
"How far have we even gone?" I asked him, running a hand through my hair.
"Well considering we're currently passing Keegan's family.." He began, but was cut off by my laughter.
"I see a strong resemblance." I giggled.
"Well according to the GPS, we're like 60 miles from home." Mitchell stated.
"That's a whole fucking hour to get home." I whined. "And I'm hungry."
"Yeah - we probably shouldn't have ditched our food." Mitchell said.
"Yup." I replied.
"By the way....thank you Aria." Mitchell said, lowering his tone.
"For what?" I asked, turning to face him.
"Everything." He smiled. "But for this car ride mainly. I needed to clear my head and be alone...but I'm glad you were here with me."
"It's okay." I whispered.
Mitchell focused his eyes back on the road with a shy grin on his face.
"Anyway, as long as we're back by 7 we should be good." I said. "We'll be there in time right?
But I didn't get an answer.
I looked over at Mitchell to see him looking in my direction with doe eyes and a smile.
"Mitchell?" I asked.
He gave no answer.
"Mitchell!!"
"Oh shit - what?" He asked.
"Nothing." I smiled, combing my hair over my cheeks. "Let's just get home."
*******
I walked down my street watching nightfall arrive.
I had Mitchell drop me off a block away so my parents wouldn't whoop me for seeing a boy and me in the same territory.
Cold winds started to blow and echo through the atmosphere as I hugged my shoulders, regretting not wearing a thicker jacket.
"You think you'd learn not to trust British weather by now sweetheart." A voice came from behind.
I recognised that voice anyday.
"Austin!?" I shrieked, turning around to see my number 1 crush since childhood.
You probably remember him from when my friends were shipping me with Mitchell and I only wanted to be shipped with him.
"When did you come back?!" I asked as he walked towards me and pulled me in to a friendly hug before handing me his jacket.
"Couple days back. I came to see you today but your mom said you were out." He replied as I slipped on the oversized hoodie.
"Yeah er - I was with my friends." I replied as we both walked down the street together.
My parents were cool with Austin. They see me and him as a brother and sister thing, since we've lived next door all our lives. They knew we were close, but what they didn't know was that I had a major crush on him.
"So what you been up to?" I asked him.
"Well, after training camp I've come back and hung with Maya for a couple days - she seemed happy I was back." He said.
Oh yeah and I forgot to mention.
Maya was his slag of a girlfriend. Well not necessarily a slag but like, she's so clingy and flirty and ugh - yeah I have no comments.
"Can't blame her." I said, stopping in front of my door. "When your boyfriend ditches you for a random camp for a month and returns earlier than expected."
"I wanted to be here for the summer." He said. "I have a feeling this one's gonna be interesting."
"So do I." I replied, returning his jacket to him, our hands locking for a second causing me to smile shyly.
"I'll catch you tomorrow then?" I quickly asked whilst pulling my hand away from him.
"Y-yeah tomorrow. See ya munchkin." He smiled before jumping over the wall into his front garden and walking in to his house.
I looked down for a second, messing with my fingers, remembering the quick moment when our hands interlocked before walking into my house aswell.
Little did I know that there was still a set of prying eyes in my neighbourhood.
A set of eyes unaware of who he was.
And little did I know how a couple of photos could mess up someone's life so much.
But .... I was about to find out.
