CHAPTER ONE ______________________ "It's not funny, Ino!"
"You're laughing too!"
Both girls giggled as they stepped onto the soft grass beneath them, loose flower petals lifting slightly at the impact.
"How could you mistake a tulip for a rose?" Ino continued to laugh at the simple mistake, wiping imaginary tears from her eyes.
"I couldn't see! The dandelion fuzz went in my eyes." The latter whined.
Unbeknownst to anyone, another body sat far away from them, actual tears running down their cheeks as they clutched the sides of their head to ease their pain.
Naruto Uzumaki. He bit his lip in an attempt to muffle his cries, causing his bottom lip to start bleeding.
"I'll see you tomorrow, yeah? Tell your Mom's ma I said hi!" Ino waved, already making her way to the village path.
"Will do! Bye!" She held up a peace sign, walking backwards to the path that led her to her Grandma's house.
Crack
A branch snapped in two as Naruto stepped backwards, wanting to avoid anybody who could make any type of contact with him.
"Huh?" The lone girl tilted her head slightly, her eyes flickering from the forest path to the blonde, who cornered himself near one of the taller trees.
"G-Go away!" He shouted weakly, sliding down the tree until he was slumped on the ground.
"You're that kid, huh?" She studied the whiskers on his cheeks."Why do you want me to leave?"
He continued to cry."Cause! You're just like them, right? You want to hurt me, too!"
"I don't." She shook her head, crossing her arms behind her back while walking over to him."I don't see what the others see. You look perfectly fine to me."
"You..don't?"
"No." She smiled softly at him as she reached out to wipe his tears away.
His cheeks turned a light pink at the sight of her. The way her ombré hair flowed down her front and back, framing her face nicely, and the way her long lashes brushed her cheeks when she smiled at him. She was a nice person. The thing he'd been yearning for since forever.
"I'm Naruto Uzumaki." His smile was small, but bright nonetheless."The the Future Hokage!"
"I'm Ayame Kawahara." She moved her hand up so that she was now ruffling his hair."The Future Hokage's new friend."
