(Dahvie)
Last night, I had dinner with Amber and her parents, and it was probably one of the most nerve-wracking things I've ever done, because despite how long we've been together, I hadn't met them before last night. Of course it went as perfect as it possibly could have, and I fucking loved those people. Her parents were hilarious, and I really had no reason to be nervous. I mean, she told me that they would love me. And I guess they did, because they seemed very happy with me by the end of the night.
After we saw them off, Amber and I drove back to her house, where we watched some silly romantic comedy and proceeded to go to sleep right after. Now it was morning and I was trying to get ahold of Jayy and Skuyler, but neither of them were answering their phones. "They're probably still asleep, sweetie. It's still early, you know them," Amber told me after I left a message for the third time. "I'll drop you off at your house on my way to work, so don't worry about getting picked up."
She was all dressed up in her work clothes: a white shirt under a black vest, black pants, black converse. She worked at a hair salon, so she could pretty much dress however she wanted. Her work was just one of those things we had in common. "Thanks, honey-bunches." I kissed her nose and she scrunched it up. She hated when I called her that because it was 'too cute.' But nothing was fucking cuter than her, so how could it be? I took her hand and we left her nice and neat little house behind. Her car was still where we parked it last night, all sleek and red and shiny like always. I was kind of jealous of how clean she was able to keep it. Mine was a mess, but I'm taking the Burnt Marshmallow with me to the grave.
"Do you want to come over after work tonight?" I asked her as we pulled out of the driveway.
"Aww... I wish I could, but I promised a friend that I'd hang with her tonight months ago, and she'll kill me if I bail on her."
Aww. "That sucks, but I'm sure you'll have fun with her!" She laughed and told me to stop distracting her from the road. Not that I was even really distracting her. Well... maybe my radiant beauty was. But I should be telling her to stop distracting me from... fuck. I don't know, stop distracting me from everything with her perfection.
We got to the house at around nine o'clock so I doubted that Jayy and Skuy would be up yet. This was too early for either of them. I hope they didn't destroy the house.
"Bye, babe," Amber said and waved as I got out of the car.
"See you later." I said. "And have fun at work!" She smiled and backed out of the driveway. I blew her a kiss when she turned down the street. Then I went inside to find that the usual mess of the house was gone. I figured that Skuyler probably had a hand in that. It smelled vaguely of burnt toast as well, so I went in the kitchen to see if someone actually was up. That was a no. But fuck, was the kitchen spotless. It was a thing of beauty in itself, and I was actually impressed that they got it this nice looking. If I didn't know for a fact that it wasn't, I would say that it was sparkling.
"Guess I missed out on something." I mumbled to myself, deciding I should probably be quiet so I don't wake up probably the worst morning person on the planet and his boyfriend, both of which would punch me in the face if I disturbed their precious slumber. So instead of doing something noisy, I searched around for the Poptarts and stuck a pair of them in the toaster. They were so much better hot. "Fucking hurry up you fucking slow ass toaster." I guess I was a little impatient. Once they were finally done I found a plate and made my way back into the living room to turn on the TV.
I could probably get away with watching something on demand quietly without waking them up, even though Jayy's room was right off this one. I flipped through the free movies, trying to find something that looked vaguely interesting, and finally stopped at one called 'Red.' Bruce Willis was in it so I guess it has to be okay... or at least have a good amount of people shooting at each other in it. I kept the volume down as I watched it because I ended up being right about the "shooting at each other" thing. And it was also an okay movie, even though I had pretty much no fucking clue what was really going on because I had the volume so far down.
About an hour into the movie, Jayy's door opened and he came out wearing nothing but a pair of tight boxers, as usual. He came and sat on the couch next to me, stole the last corner of my final Poptart, and asked what I was watching. "Why the fuck did you steal my food?" I asked, barely remembering to keep my voice down.
"Because I was hungry, obviously." Jayy replied, and asked me again what movie I was watching.
"Go get your own fucking Poptart next time..." I grumbled at him. "And it's some action movie, I don't know."
He sat and watched for a couple of minutes and then got up. I asked why he was leaving, and he said he'd already seen this because he watched it at Skuy's place once a while ago.
"Whatever." I said, and he walked away back into his room, coming back a while later with jeans and a tank top on. He went into the kitchen and was in there for a while. When he came back to sit on the couch, he tossed a half of a Poptart on my plate, which was still on my lap, and apologized for it smelling like burnt toast in the house.
"We had a cooking adventure last night. It obviously didn't turn out too well." He told me. "How were Amber's folks?"
I told him about what happened at dinner last night, and he said he thought they sounded nice. "Dude, they were fucking awesome," I told him.
He said, "I guess that's where she gets it from, huh?" I rolled my eyes and said 'probably.'
Eventually the movie ended and we decided that instead of watching something else, we were going to try writing a new song. The tour for Bad Blood was long over and the fans would like something new. I went up to my room from the back stairs so I wouldn't have to go through Jayy's room, where Skuy was still sleeping, and got my acoustic guitar and my song notebook.
When I got back downstairs Jayy had gotten his and was sitting on the floor in front of the TV on the rug. It was a while before we came up with anything decent. A couple of okay verses that probably wouldn't be a part of the same song because they had too different of subject matter, and a chorus for one of them. I couldn't tell yet if they were going to be more upbeat and electronic like 'Bad Blood' or more like 'Anthem of the Outcast.' But knowing us it would probably be something completely different than what we've done before.
It was 12:13 when I next looked at the clock, and Jayy's door opened. Skuy walked out looking grumpy in a t-shirt that was way too big for him and sat on the couch behind us. Luckily, he didn't have the 'you fucking woke me up' grumpy look on his face. Just his 'I could still be sleeping right now' face, which was surprisingly a completely different expression (and type of grumpiness) than the former.
"What are you guys doing?" He asked, crossing his legs and stretching.
"We're trying to come up with some stuff for the next album." I told Skuy.
"Really?" He asked, yawning. "Did you come up with a name for it yet?"
"Well, it'll be an EP, most likely. We were thinking of calling it 'BitchCraft.' Sound any good?"
