Chapter 10

Kaleigh’s Point Of View

“Oh shit,” Brantley swore and sharply cut down another back road.

“Oh my god, we are going to get busted and go to jail forever! I’ll never be a nurse Brantley, oh my god my brother is going to kill me!” I exclaimed panicking as I looked over my shoulder and back in front of us quickly.

“Kaleigh, I’m not trying to be an asshole. But you need to calm down. I promise it will be ok.” He told me as he made more turns and the cop began disappearing in the rearview mirror.

After a couple more turns and some deep breathing exercises the cop was completely gone from our sight. But I don’t think Brantley wanted to take any chances, we drove down more back roads for a while until he thought it was safe and made our way back towards his house.

“You can open your eyes now,” He told me with a laugh as he placed his hand on my knee. “There’s just nine more miles until we’re at the state line then we’re home free.”

“We were out of state?” I asked, my mouth dropping open in shock.

“For a few minutes we were, but only went that way because the sheriff would’ve had his good old deputy waiting at the end of those back roads for me if we didn’t.”

“Oh,” I replied with a sigh and leaned my head on his shoulder as we crossed the state line and made our way home.

Wait did I just think of his house as home? I asked myself in my head. Don’t get me wrong I would love to live there with him considering I am living with my brother at the moment but it was the least of my worries at the moment. That’s something I will worry about at a late time.

“Well, honey that’s the dangerous part of what we do right there.” He smirked as he turned down the secret path to his barn.

“It was fun, although I’ll pass on the cop chase next time if that’s possible. That is if you want me to go again?” I asked with a smile as I gazed up at him.

“I didn’t have a thought of any other way in my mind.” He told me kissing my lips quickly before he pulled into the barn and killed the ignition as the rumble of the engine quieted until it was silent.

I pulled away and turned to where I was facing him and wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer. Leaning back on the seat, I pulled him down on top of me as I kissed him passionately, our lips moving in sync with one another’s.

He leaned above me, careful as to not put his weight on me as he moved his kisses from my lips to my jaw and down my neck hitting my sweet spot. I let out a small wimper, letting my head tilt back to give him more access as I felt him smirk against my skin. I scooted down and kissed his lips again before pushing him off of me gently and sitting up.

“Hey, I have a question,” I began. “I saw a pond earlier and I didn’t know if maybe we could go out there tonight and swim a bit or something if that’s ok with you?”

“That sounds like a good idea,” He said with a smile. “Grab that jar of moonshine and head up to the house while I unload this. I’ll meet you up there when I’m done.”
