FYI this part is kind of slow and long but I promise it will speed up in the next part, so please read!
{ (Y/n), the daughter of the deceased storm god Yamato and highly esteemed bandit clan leader Matsume Okuda, is setting out on a quest to eliminate Naraku, her father's killer. She has inherited her father's immense power, yet she must harness the power and make it her own before she can become a god and reach her true potential. She quickly mastered the art of the twin swords, a sacred tradition of her mother's clan and is on her way to find Naraku.}
It's been four whole years today since Father was murdered and I started my training with my Mother. Yesterday, I finally reached the end of my official training. Tomorrow the village is hosting a celebration, for one week from today I will depart from my home and seek out the scumbag half-demon, Naraku.
Father, I hope you are watching me. I truly can only pray that this is what you would want me to do. Four years ago Naraku tried to steal your power, yet it feels like yesterday. You died protecting the only thing you had to give me. I sometimes find myself thinking if you were a simple human like Mother and I, you would still be with us...
Mother walks into my room unannouced and kneels beside me at the small shrine I had set up in Father's honor. I looked over to see her hands tremble as she holds something in her lap, wrapped in an old battered kimono. The kimono was torn in a few places and had old stains of dirt or possibly blood.
"Your father would be proud of you. No one has mastered such an art in only four years..." She said gazing sadly at the smoke coming from the incense I had lit then turned to me. "When I was young, and began my training with your Grandfather, I could tell that he had desperately wanted a son. I've always strived to fulfill that, even in his death I can't seem to shake the thought that I've failed him... My point, (Y/n), is that I don't want you to live your life trying to do what your Father would have wanted. If I've learned anything in my time..." She paused, "it's that Fathers are assholes that leave you with crazy expectations of yourself" She abruptly popped into a goofy smile. "When you leave, be safe and remember me and the clan, we all want for you to return safely." She looks down at the kimono in her lap, her gaze growing serious, "This... was your Great-great-grandmother Lady Itsuji's kimono, and i-it guards our clan's most precious belonging, the sacred twin swords." She turned her serious gaze from the swords bundled up in her lap to me, "Lady Istuji was a demon who lived many many years ago, she founded our clan after the war and had the swords made by a master blacksmith. Now (y/n), you have grown into a fine woman, you represent the best of this clan and I need you to be safe on your journey... Please, take these with you." she says, the kimono falling ever so slightly to reveal the tip of the shining blades as she gestures them towards me.
"Mother, you are the leader of the clan. You are the only one that should wield these swords. I-I can't take these," I say as I stand up in protest. Mother looks up at me with an endearing half-smile.
"No one has been able to weild the swords since Lady Itsuji's time. She was a powerful demon, and the swords are merely conductors of spiritual energy. My grandmother was a human, she taken in by Lady Itsuji during the war. No one in our family has been able to truly wield the swords since Lady Itsuji-" She says as she gets up and grabs my hands. "But I believe that you can fulfill their true strength, with the powers you've inherited from your Father."
"But Mother... my power is so weak compared to Fathers. I wouldn't even know what to do with these-"
"Oh bull, (Y/n) stop whining, they're swords, you just use 'em and figure it out!" She began to nag and make sword swinging gestures, " *sigh* Your father had to harness and master his powers before he became strong, you have come so far with your powers already, now is your chance to truly make them yours." She said as she put her arm on my shoulder, letting her touch linger as if to soak up every last bit of her daughter's warmth.
