*only slight langst but a super cute prompt my friend thought of so have some cute klance because the last one was heavy*
"It plays films. The are transferred from Earth. It can play almost any film you can think of." Allura said, revealing a white and blue projector-like device.
"Where'd you get it?" Hunk asked, eying it suspiciously, as if it was too good to be true.
"I traded for it at the space mall. We thought you paladins would enjoy it." Coran piped up. The all nodded and murmured in agreement.
"Can I try it?" Pidge asked. Allura nodded.
"Of course! You all just have to be back in time for bed." She said, hitting a small blue button. It projected like a hologram with menu button. "Just type in what you want. It will play." Allura smiled once more before turning on her heel. Pidge just about sprinted towards the menu, typing in some movie. The screen went black for a moment, only to come back on showing Shrek. All Star blared though the room. They all rolled their eyes.
"Seriously Pidge? The most meme-worthy movie of all time?" Hunk said.
"I beg to differ," Lance stated. "I believe the most meme-worthy would be the Bee Movie." He tiptoed behind Hunk. "Welcome To Honex." He whispered in Hunk's hear. Hunk nearly jumped out of his skin.
"What the heck Lance!?" Hunk cried. Shiro stifled a giggle, trying to keep his face emotionless. Even Keith scoffed a bit. Lance was funnier than they gave him credit for. And as much the movie was in fact meme-worthy, the watched it anyway. To be honest, Lance almost cried. Not because of the movie in particular, more because it was like a little piece of home. But he didn't. He just got up and started leaving.
"Where're you going Lance?" Keith asked.
"Just...tired. Going to bed. Have fun." Lance mumbled, trying to keep the sadness out of his voice. Keith gave him a suspicious look. Lance continued to walk out of the room. Once he was gone, Keith turned to Shiro.
"Do you think he's okay?" Keith wondered.
"He seems a bit...off. But we should just let him be for now." Shiro said, turning from Keith back to the screen. "Why? You worried about him?" Shiro teased. Keith blushed and buried his face in the crooked of his arm.
"What? N-no." Keith flustered. Shiro smiled to himself because Keith could never fool him.
"Yeah, sure."
Keith turned his attention back to the movie. Pidge and Hunk seemed to be enjoying themselves, even with Smashmouth blaring through the castle.Later that night, Lance hadn't come out of his room. Still, the paladins went to bed without giving it much thought and to be fair, they were enjoying the quiet.
"I'm kinda glad he wasn't there, I know hat sounds bad but he probably would have spoiled it." Pidge said. The rest laughed, except for Keith. After going to bed, Keith felt guilty for not saying anything to Lance. Why am I guilty? It's not my fault, Keith thought while he was laying on top of his bed. He's probably just...well honestly I don't know, Keith sat up and walked around his room, pacing a bit when he suddenly stopped. First of all, why am I so worried? Second of all, I'm not sure I like this feeling. Or do I??? That's when he heard a soft whimpering. And some sniffles. Which was strange considering everyone was supposedly asleep, so he snuck out quickly. Following the noise, it lead him in the main room where someone was using the projector. The room was lit up by the screen protecting a sunrise with a Stevie Wonder song playing. Then it suddenly changed to a boy writing something.
"When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home."
Keith realized that someone else was reciting along with the boy on screen with a shaky breath. Taking quiet steps forward, Keith realized it was Lance. He was there in jeans and t-shirt, sitting on the ground, his body shaking with tears. Lance quietly recited the next couple lines as the boy on screen ran away from some gang.
"Lance?" Keith asked quietly. Lance gasped a bit and whipped his head around, then starting vigorously wiping his face.
"K-Keith? What are you doing?"
"The better question is what you are doing?" Keith said, motioning towards the screen.
"W-Watching a movie, sorry if-"
"Why are you crying Lance?" Keith asked, sitting on the couch behind Lance, cutting him off. Lance paused the movie.
"I'm not-"
"Yeah, nice try."
"It's no big deal, really-"
"Lance, you're sobbing." Keith moved to the floor beside Lance. Lance shifted a bit so Keith moved a bit closer, not wanting to over step his boundaries. Lance looked back at the frozen screen, and Keith could see a couple tears fall down Lance's cheeks. "Lance, what's wrong?"
"Why are you so nice to me all of a sudden?" Lance asked, almost a whisper. Keith pondered on the question before answering.
"Because...I think you need it."
"Why?"
"Because we aren't nice to you enough. And you seem pretty upset." Keith leaned back on the couch. Lance was quiet for a minute.
"If you watch this with me, I'll tell you." Lance said.
"Okay. What is it?" Keith said, looking back up at the screen.
"The Outsiders. It was my favorite book, and movie."
"Alright. Now tell me." Keith looked Lance in the eye and Lance sighed.
"It's...it's my family, Keith." Lance shuddered a bit.
"What-what about them?"
"I miss them. And I know we all have families and that seems selfish, but Keith, I'm failing them up here," He started picking at his jeans. "I can't do anything right. Even at the Garrison..."
"What do you mean you can't do anything right?" Keith asked, a bit scared. Lance look around, anything to avoid Keith's eyes.
"I'm just...kinda here, you know? I don't really have a purpose. Everything I do seems to make someone mad. Sometimes I don't even know why I'm on this team anyway." Lance looked like he was going to cry again, but instead bit his lip.
"Lance, damnit, that's not true. That's insane. You're here because we want you to be here." Seeing Lance upset was making Keith angry, but he didn't know why.
"Why would you want me here? Why? Everything I do I mess up. My family would be so ashamed." Lance buried his face in his knees. Slowly, Keith started rubbing circles on Lance's back. He flinched a bit but didn't pull away.
"Lance, I don't know we haven't told you enough how much you're needed, but you are needed. We wouldn't be anything without you. You found the lion, right?"
"Technically you found it." Lance said, his voice muffled.
"Yeah but, she chose you. Out of all of us." Keith heard Lance sniffle and then he picked his head up. Suddenly, he smiled.
"Keith, do you really mean that?"
"Of course." Keith gave a small smile. After a couple minutes, Lance laughed. "What?" Keith said.
"Your hand is still on my back."
Keith ears went red.
"Oh..I didn't-" He stammered. Lance laughed a bit more.
"No, no, it's okay." Lance blushed a bit.
Crap he's cute. Keith thought suddenly. Keith moved his hand back. "Alright, we're watching this damn movie." Lance un-paused the movie, and every now and then Keith would ask about the characters.
"Who's that?" Keith asked.
"That's Sodapop."
"Sodapop? What kind of name is that?" Keith scoffed.
"An original one. Sodapop is my favorite character. In the books he's described as "movie star handsome."" Lance looked really happy someone was enjoying his movie, and Keith couldn't help but realized that Lance's eyes lit up when he talked about it.
"You're movie star handsome." Keith said, only realizing what he said a minute later. "Oh shit, did I say that out loud?" Keith wanted to throw himself into space. Lance blushed, and then laughed.
"You're movie star handsome too." Lance moved back closer to Keith so that they were basically touching shoulders. Keith blushed too, but didn't move. After awhile, Keith started to really enjoy this movie. He liked Johnny.
"Jesus Christ." Keith said suddenly.
"What?" Lance said, a bit startled.
"They are all so gay. Jeez."
"Well, its was the 50s, they couldn't just say it." Lance realized Keith looked kinda pretty when he laughed. So many thoughts ran through Keith's head as he realized Lance was starring at him. Was he gonna say it? Too late.
"LancecanIkissyou?" Keith asked, in one word.
"What?"
"Can I kiss you?" Lance blushed even more.
"Yes?" He choked out. Keith took a deep breath and then pressed his lips into Lance's. Lance kissed back as the movie kept on playing. Finally, Keith let go.
"I wished that lasted longer to be honest." Keith said, a bit breathless.
"Nothing gold can stay." Lance said, smiling.
"What?"
"Look," Lance pointed at the screen, where Johnny and Ponyboy were watching a sunrise.
"Natures first green is gold, her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leafs a flower, but only so an hour.
The leaf subsides to leaf, and Eden sank to grief.
So dawn goes down to day,
Nothing gold can stay." Ponyboy and Lance said in unison.
"Oh. It's a poem." Keith said, leaning back in the couch.
"Can we do that again?"
"Oh hell yeah.""Woah! It can play music!" Lance said in a loud whisper.
"Play some. Something good." Keith said, a bit tiredly. Lance typed in something, and started playing. Once the chorus came along, Lance said,
"Dance with me."
"What?"
"Dance with me!"
"Oh, okay." Lance grabbed Keith's hands and spun him around the room. In return, Keith spun Lance and Lance giggled.
"I didn't think you could dance." Lance said, a bit out of breath.
"Neither could I."
"I swear that I'll always paint you golden days." Lance sang along softly.
"I think I'm in love with you." Keith blurred out.
"And I think I'm in love with you."
