Tyler

I sign a couple of papers, handing the clipboard back to the nurse.

"Thank you." She says.

I give her a smile and nod.

I turn around, looking at Josh.

"Let's go." He days.

"Let's go." I smile.

I put my hands on Josh's wheelchair handles, pushing him out the door.

He can't walk for a few days, so I'd have to do all the driving soon.

But, since we don't have a car right now, I called someone.

Jenna and Debby, of course.

A small grey car pulls up in front of the hospital exit.

I open the back door, turning to Josh.

"Um, I-I don't know how I'm gonna do this. I'm not strong enough to hold you up."

"It's fine, Ty. I got this."

I step back a little, watching Josh attempt to get off of the wheelchair.

I can tell by the look on his face that he's in pain.

"No, I'm gonna help you."

I step back up, watching him look down and sigh.

Watching him like this really saddens me.

I wrap my arm under his shoulders, lifting him up a little.

He also pushes himself up, with both hands on each side of the chair.

He stands up, with no pressure, and gets into the car.

When his upper body is in, I push his legs in as well.

I close the car door, turning back around.

I grab the wheelchair and fold it.

I tap on the window to the passengers seat, motioning for Jenna to open the trunk.

Once it pops open, I pick up the chair, throwing it into the empty space.

I close the trunk and walk over the the other side of the car, getting in.

"Thank you so much, girls, for picking us up this far away. I appreciate it so much, We just didn't have a car."

"No issue at all, Tyler. Anything for the both of you." Debby replies.

She adjusts the mirror, looking into it, and fixing her hair.

"How you doin', Josh?" Jenna asks.

He breaks from his haze, looking forward.

"Oh, Um, I'm doing fine, I guess. Just hurting everywhere. Kind of scared being i-in a car."

I reach over, putting my hand on his thigh.

He looks down, putting his hand over mine.

I scoot over a seat, letting Josh rest his head on my shoulder.

He sleeps the entire ride back.

"Hey, Joshie, get up sweetheart."

I pat his thigh, softly.

His light brown eyes, opening up.

He unbuckles himself, opening the car door.

He pauses, looking back at me.

I give him a nod, getting out of the car.

Debby opens the trunk again.
