Chapter 17

                                    

                                          
(One week later)
                          
Everyone left yesterday and of course I cried. But they will be back Katy is moving back here so I will see her more. I'm sitting in my room staring out my window at the sky and I decide to do some work. I grab my laptop and search 'COVERS OF SKINNY LOVE BY BIRDY'. I find a girl named Danielle. I watch her video and oh my god she is good. 
                          
I immediately email Mr. Johansson and get a response almost as fast as I emailed him saying,
                          
'Emma, I trust your judgment and I am not going to give you an okay anymore. I trust you. Just send my secretary the time for the meeting and I will be there.'
                          
I don't answer and whip out my phone I dial her number that Martin, from the tech department found, and press call.
                          
"Hello?"
                          
"Hello, is this Danielle", I ask. 
                          
"Yes who is this."
                          
"This is Emma Pottorff. I'm calling about signing you to Star Records as a singer because you have exceptional talent."
                          
Kian walks in and furrows his eyebrows "Who are you talking to", he mouths. I give him the one minute finger and he sits down.
                          
"Danielle are you still there?"
                          
"Yeah I'm just a little shocked. I looked you up online and your an amazing singer. I thought I recognized the name and I looked up you name. You are Sam Pottorff's daughter, the one with the friend who committed suicide, yes?"
                          
"Yeah so I was calling to get you a time for a meeting at Star Records with Mr. Johansson. When in the next few weeks are you available?"
                          
"Um, well I live in Nevada so I could drive over in the next few days. I need to talk to my parents about this give me a second."
                          
"Take as long as you need I'm not going anywhere."
                          
I put my phone on private so I can here when she comes back on, I play the video for Kian and he calls the rest of the boys up to watch it. I play it again and then I hear my phone. I turn it off private.
                          
"You there", she asks cautiously. 
                          
"Yup. So what's up?"
                          
"My dad says we can leave now and be there tomorrow", she says excitedly. 
                          
"Ok let me look at the schedule. Umm there is a spot at 3:30, can you make it?"
                          
"Yes that's perfect", she cheers. 
                          
I smile." Great I will tell Mr. Johansson. I sent the link of your cover of Skinny Love and he loved it. He is very excited to sign you."
                          
"Thank you so so much!"
                          
"Maybe when you get signed we can do a cover video together, yeah?" 
                          
She screams. I pull the phone away from my ear and the boys laugh.
                          
"That would be awesome thank you again", she says. 
                          
"No thank you", I reply. 
                          
I hang up and scream. She was a fan that's awesome. The boys stare at me and I have an idea. I pull out my camera and set up everything.
                          
"Hey guys! I'm back with an announcement video. So you know how I have a job at Star Records as a talent. Well I got this great idea that this month I will posting videos at random times with the girls I have signed. That includes Meagan and Liz, Jacqueline Ortiz, Mariah Kelvin, Victoria Nelson, Danielle Christine, and a few others. I will also be making tons of covers for now on with Rachel Panning. Anyways that's all for today. I will see you next time. Emma Claire out. Stay beautiful and be nice to one another." I don't edit it and post it directly.
                          
I then pull out my phone and text all the girls and tell then the plan. They all agree and we work on when they are all coming since not all of them live in Cali. I finish texting them and put my phone away.
                          
"Chow is served", Connor screams and I run downstairs. I learned the hard way that if you don't beat the boys you don't get any food.
                          
I sprint down the stairs and look behind me to see Kian and Sam sprinting from their rooms. I double my speed and grab a plate. I skid to a stop in front of the tacos. I grab two and some pineapple as the rest of the boys come streaking in. I sit down at the table next to the window and start eating. I take a bite or two and then get up to get an Arizona. I walk into the garage and grab one. As I walk back in I see them all staring at Connor's phone. I panic when Sam looks up.
                          
"What happened", I scream.
                          
"We are just looking at things for our next meet and greet. You are coming with us."
                          
"Really", I scream.
                          
"With Rachel", Ricky adds and I stare. My jaw drops and I pull my phone out of my back pocket.
                          
"Hello?"
                          
"Ahhhhh", I scream. 
                          
"What", she says worriedly. 
                          
"WE ARE GOING TO A MEET AND GREET WITH THE BOYS", I scream!!!
                          
"AHHHHHHHH", she screams. 
                          
"I know. OMG we are going to going to get mobbed and I swear I'm so excited I'm gonna puke!"
                          
"I'll be right there next to you holding your hair back", she says laughing. 
                          
"That's why your my best friend", I laugh. 
                          
"I know well I got to go eat dinner. You know I'm always hungry. Bye chica!"
                          
"Bye chicky."
                          
I hang up and scream. The boys chuckle and I go outside. In the setting sun, everything looks golden and perfect. I walk to the trampoline and start jumping. I jump up and land on my back. I scream again as the boys come on the trampoline. We all jump around and then when we get tired I lay down with the boys following my example. We stare at the stars and then I feel myself be picked up. I look at Connor and snuggle into his chest. He carries me up to my room. I feel him trudge up the stairs and then I feel softness. I see my vision blur and I fall into one of the most peaceful sleep I have had since Paige died.
