-Epilogue-

One Year Later

"Nina, baby, hurry up," Tristan said.

Nina sighed and shook her head. "I'm coming."

Tristan didn't know how hard it was trying to find something to wear when you had a round belly with another life inside of you.

Nina finally pulled the burgundy blouse over her head and strutted out of their bedroom towards the living room. They shared a house on the upper west side of town.

"Where are we going?" Nina asked, placing her hand on her protruding belly.

"It's a surprise."

"I hate surprises," Nina said, on her way out the door. She waited while Tristan locked up their two-story brick home.

They got inside the car and took off. Nina watched Tristan and smiled to herself. She was so happy that they were finally together. She glanced at his right hand resting on top of the gearshift. She liked how the silver band on his finger shined in the light reminding her of his lifetime commitment to loving and always being there for her.

Tristan smiled at her as if he knew what she was thinking. She grinned back at him and placed her hand on his. She turned her attention back towards the window as she watched cars pass by since now they were on the highway.

"Please tell me where we're going," Nina said.

"I told you it's a secret so be patient."

"Fine," Nina said. She crossed her arms and huffed turning her attention back towards the passenger side window.

Nina had realized she had fallen asleep until she felt Tristan gently shake her out of her slumber. She was so sleepy nowadays.

"We're here," Tristan said.

Nina realized they were outside of her mom's house. She also noticed a bunch of other cars outside her house along with her's and Tristan's. Nina could hear the music blasting from the house a mixture of Hip-Hop and R&B.

"Well this was unexpected," Nina said walking alongside Tristan to the front door. "Why didn't you tell me?"

Tristan chuckled as he watched Nina pout. "Babe, I told you it was a surprise."

Nina shook her head. "You know I hate surprises."

"Just trust me," Tristan said, knocking on the front door.

"Ah look at you," Nina's mom said, giving her a hug and rubbing her tummy. She then proceeded to give Tristan a hug and whispering something in his ear that made them both chuckle and smile.

"What's so funny?" Nina asked, noticing how they both were still whispering and laughing.

"Oh, stop being paranoid," her mother said. "Follow me."

Tristan and Nina followed her through the living room to the backyard where all her family and Tristan's family were there along with their friends.

"Wow," Nina said with tears springing to her eyes.

She noticed the vanilla cake sitting in the center of the table with a sign that said, boy or girl?

"You like?" Tristan asked, placing his hand on the small of her back.

Nina grinned. "You planned all this?"

Tristan nodded. "Well I had a bit of help," he said nodding his head at her sister Naomi.

Nina turned in the direction of her sister. They still had some issues but after she survived the car crash they had been trying to work on their issues. Naomi had apologized to Nina and left Nick alone. Now he was dating his newest secretary and had gotten her pregnant.

Nina was so glad that she finally divorced him and married a real man who cared deeply for her. Nina was still wary of Naomi but all she had seen was her sincerely trying to be in her life. But if she did mess up again she might have to cut her off completely, but Nina had faith that everything would work out for the best between the two of them.

Naomi walked up and gave her a hug. "You look like you're getting bigger by the minute."

Nina rubbed her belly. "Girl, I know. Did you really help him with this gender reveal party?"

"It was the least I could do for what I put you through," Naomi said, brushing a tear away that cascaded down her cheek.

"Don't worry about it. You already apologized enough already. Remember we're moving forward."

Naomi sighed. "I remember. Well, I'll let you guys mingle while I help mom try to hook up with Mr. Stanley."

Nina laughed. Mr. Stanley was her mom's next-door neighbor who was good looking for an older gentleman and Nina was just happy her mom was trying to find love since their dad died.

Nina and Tristan talked to most of the people who were there laughing, dancing, and having a good time. Nina couldn't help but think that it was all a dream but she knew it was real and she couldn't help but stare at Tristan and wonder how she became so lucky.

Nina noticed Trisha hanging by the entrance to the back door. Tears sprang to Nina's eyes as she saw her best friend.

Trisha rushed to Nina and gave her a hug. Nina reciprocated.

"I am so sorry," Nina said. "I should have been more supportive of you."

Trisha shook her head. "No, I'm the one who's sorry. I blew it all out of proportion. You were right anyway. We ended up breaking up."

"You were better off."

Trisha smiled. "I missed you"

Nina wiped the tears from Trisha's cheeks. "It's all in the past.  I need you by my side now that I'm having a baby."

Trisha squeezed her hand. "I'm not going anywhere."

"It's time," Nina's mom yelled out. "Nina, honey, come cut the cake."

Nina smiled back at Trisha before she grabbed Tristan's hand as they both walked up to the cake. Nina was anxious to know if they were having a girl or boy. She was happy either way it turned out but she knew that Tristan wanted a boy.

Nina grabbed the knife off the table and cut into the cake. Nina smiled when the inside of the cake was pink.

"Babe it's a girl," Nina said, hugging Tristan and planting a kiss on him.

Everyone at the party clapped and cheered.

"I can't believe I'm having a girl. Somebody get me a shotgun," Tristan said and everyone cackled with laughter.

Nina playfully slapped him on the shoulder. "It's too early for that."

Tristan bent down and gently placed his lips on hers. "I love you."

Nina pulled him closer and wrapped her arms around his waist. "I love you too."

Tristan smiled. "Now, let's dance."
