Cheater ((32))

His words are so quiet that it's surprising Jules and Tristan heard him. The girl glares at Brad, a disgusted look on her face, and he would've said something about that, but he can see the blonde grinning to himself out of the corner of his eye and so the curly-haired boy just smiles contently.

"Stay out of this," Jules warns, though she's not the least bit intimidating. "This doesn't concern you."

"Doesn't it?" Brad asks, voice low on purpose. The two others at the table hear, and the girl shoots him another evil glance, but the conversation continues on as it had been.

"I'm sorry if this makes you mad, but you can't be what my whole world revolves around. And apparently, you can't be what that other guys whole world revolves around, hence the reason you had the desire to cheat. So, I know it might suck, but until you either find someone who can dedicate their every waking moment to you, which is extremely unlikely, or understand that couples need lives outside of the relationship, then I feel as if you're going to be quite unhappy. Well, unless of course you continue cheating. But that never lasts long. Someone will always find out, and the outcome will not be pretty."

Jules is stunned, her jaw dropping instantly, and she slams her fist down on the table. "How dare you say any of that to me?"

"What do you mean? I'm just telling you the truth. There will be consequences to your actions, though you may not see that now. There will be, and they'll suck one hell of a lot."

"You're an asshole, you know. Yeah, I do see someone behind your back. Because yes, I do still like you. Very much, considering how long we've been together. It's hard to completely lose feelings. But you can't give me what I want; a loving relationship. I know I can't be the centre of your world, okay, I know that. But I'm not the only girl who wants more attention than you try to give. If you ever actually cared about me, you would've tried harder."

"You know that isn't true," Tristan murmurs, angry at the accusations. "You know I cared about you. You were just asking for too much!"

"Asking for too much? Asking for a little attention, a few phone calls here and there, hanging out once or twice a month. That's too much?"

"None of that is valid, Jules, and you know it! You'd call me every single day, more than once, asking me to hang out even if you knew I was busy. You called me hours after we did hang out and beg me to come over again. I tried so hard, but I couldn't keep up with you."

She snorts. "Pathetic excuse if you ask me."

"It's not an excuse! I cared so much, supported you unconditionally. Loving relationships are a two-way street, and ours became one-sided very quickly. And you never even wanted to just 'hang out', because every time you asked, all you actually wanted to do was to sleep with me. Relationships do not revolve around that, contrary to your belief. I'm sorry, but hearing you infer that over the phone at least four or five times a week got really annoying."

"Stop saying things that aren't true," she mutters, crossing her arms, obviously now losing the argument.

"Oh, they're true. You'd constantly ask me, and when I said no, you had to find another little friend to make you happy, right? Is that why? Because you're so desperate for affection that you had to cheat on your boyfriend?"

"How...how do you know about all of this?" Jules stutters, and as it's basically a confession that she'd actually cheated, Tristan's heart breaks just a little bit more. He knew it was true – just hoped it wasn't.

"It's not like you hid it well," Tris murmurs truthfully, trying not to let his voice weaken. "I didn't want to believe it, but I know it's true, and I remember the signs. When you came over that night after we'd gotten back together; over the phone I heard you say to someone that you'd be back soon, and then you showed up wearing another guys shirt. At the time I didn't notice, and if I did, I thought it was an old one of mine. But it wasn't. Well that, and.."
