The Angel of Death gave me a smile, showing off his perfect white teeth. I just stared at him, my jaw dropped. He was the most stunning man I’ve ever seen. When he walked towards us, he put an arm around my shoulders, causing me to blush.

“You…” Bella breathed. “Why are you here?”

“She wants to talk to me, right?” the man said, gesturing to me. His voice was smooth and silky. It sounds so… melodic. This? This is the Angel of Death? I imagined the Angel of Death looks like a zombie or something. But this man… this man is no zombie.

I cleared my throat and shrugged off his shoulders. He raised his eyebrows. I smiled sheepishly. “Sorry… Anyway, who are you? I mean, I know you’re the Angel of Death. But do you have a name?”

He shrugged. “Nope. Just Death. Call me Death,” he said, grinning.

I blinked. “Um… okay, Death,” I managed. I looked at Bella. “I seriously need to talk to him, Bella. Please.”

She firmly shook her head. “No. I told you that Death is something you wouldn’t want to interfere, Kate.”

            “Bella… please,” I pleaded.

“What’s the problem here?” Death asked, frowning. Somehow, he made frowning sexy. “Bella, are you bothering this young angel here?”

Bella raised her eyebrow. “What’s it to you, Death? Why are you here? Aren’t you suppose be staying in a funeral or something?”

“Well, death is surely strong in hospitals,” Death explained, shrugging. “My power is strong here. One flick of my hand and I can take a human life.”

My eyes widened. He can take a human life in one flick of his hand? Does that mean one word from his mouth and he could make BJ alive? I crossed my fingers mentally. I hope so.

“I’m perfectly aware of your powers,” Bella said coldly. “But why are you here?”

            “I heard my name.”

“You always hear your name. Everywhere actually.”

Death rolled his eyes and waved his hand dismissively. “I have enough of your blabber, Bella. Can I just talk to this angel?” he asked, gesturing to me. “She wanted to talk to me. And I will. It’s my decision to go here and you can’t stop me. You know I’m more powerful than you.”

Bella glared at Death. I raised my eyebrow. There’s an angel who is more powerful than Bella? Well, that’s new.

“Fine,” Bella snapped. “But you are going to waste your time. What she’s going to ask for you is impossible.”

            “Is it about death?”

            “Yes.”

“Well, then, you don’t know if it’s going to be impossible.”

“Why not?” Bella demanded, shaking with fury.

“Because you’re not the Angel of Death or any of my agents.”

Bella sighed angrily and turned to glare at me. I flinched. That glare was so harsh! “You know what to do,” she ordered. She stepped forward and grabbed Aeriel and Charisse’s arms. “We need to give them some space.”
