Wouldn't it be great if we could all see the strings of fate connecting us? We could find out our soulmates so easily couldn't we?
                          
Well, in a world named Earthland one girl who that has that exact ability exists. 
                          
Her name is...

August 7th X791,
                          
I've always had the ability to see the strings of fate connecting each one of us throughout this world. 
                          
The blue strings of friendship,
                          
The white strings of family,
                          
The red strings of love. 
                          
And the most important of all,
                          
The gold strings of soulmates.
                          
I've been able to do this ever since I was born but I just kept it a secret from everybody. My mother and my celestial spirits are the only ones who have ever known. 
                          
The only way I can see the strings is if I focus on a certain person or group of people. Sometimes it can get annoying though. 
                          
Sometimes, this gift I have is great as it can let me know who is connected to who in certain ways. Of course I have to be careful about this information though and it's only limited to a certain range of how far the strings will go. 
                          
But sometimes, it's not great. I know all of my friends soulmates but I can't tell them or they'll think I'm either lying or that I'm crazy. 
                          
I have even made a list of everyone's soulmates so that I will never forget and so that I can help their gold strings have red threads to be laced through them rather than blue or blue and then red from one side. Although, I'll have to be sneaky about it.

But my biggest problem is that I also know who my own soulmate is. 
                          
You heard me right, I know but I haven't decided to do anything about it. 
                          
Why, you ask. Because our string of fate is gold with blue threads and a few red threads coming from me towards him. 
                          
You've probably figured it out by now, haven't you?
                          
Yup! You guessed it my soulmate is none other than the one and only. 
                          
Natsu Dragneel
                          
Goodbye for now, dear diary of mine.

                          
I shut my almost full diary and place it back on the shelf above my desk, making sure to hide it behind a stack of books. 
                          
If someone found out about my ability I don't know what I would do. 
                          
I stretch my arms out whilst I sit on my desk chair before getting up and heading towards my bathroom. 
                          
After I've taken a quick shower I grab my clothes for the day. 
                          
I decide on my usual blue and white top and black skirt with my white belt tied around it, holding my keys and my Fleuve d'étoiles. I also put on my black thigh high socks and brown boots and put my hair into pigtails, making sure to leave my fringe out. A/N: for you Americans a fringe is what you call bangs)
                          
I walk into the guild hall and walk over towards the bar, dodging flying chairs from Gray and Natsu's hourly fight along the way. 
                          
Mirajane places my usual smoothie on the bar in front of me and I start to stir around the drink with the straw. 
                          
"Are you okay Lucy? You look sad." Mira asks. 
                          
I look up at Mira and almost instantly the strings, one by one, start to appear. I notice that I gold string is linking somewhere upstairs, meaning that Laxus is in the guild hall today. 
                          
I also can't help but notice the red threads forming at Mirajane's side of the string. 
                          
Looks like someone has a crush on Laxus. 
                          
"I'm fine. Just a bit bored as there's no jobs suited for me at the moment." I lie. I'm actually contemplating on whether to tell anyone about my ability or not. 
                          
"Okay. If you say so." Mira replies and walks over to the sink to continue washing the used glasses and mugs. 
                          
I start to drink my smoothie and just when I thought that I was going to get some peace and quiet Natsu happens. 
                          
"Hey Luce!" He greets me whilst slinging his arm around my shoulders causing my face to heat up. He must be like this seeing as I didn't go on the last job with him and he ended up being gone for a few days. This is the first time I've seen him since he got back (which I'm assuming was last night). 
                          
I turn my head to look at him and I'm about to speak when I notice how small the gap is between us. One wrong move and I'm doomed. 
                          
"H-hey Natsu. Could you please move your head out of my face?" I ask. 
                          
He immediately backs away, not wanting to get a Lucy kick to the face. Again. 
                          
The strings all start to appear, just like they did with Mirajane a few minutes ago. 
                          
But this time it was different. 
                          
The gold string between Natsu and I appears like normal with the red thread coming from my end towards him. But that's not what shocked me. 
                          
What shocked me is the fact that, although it's not that much, there are red threads coming from his end that are starting to link up in the middle with the red thread from my side. I smile at the sight and tears start to brim in my eyes. 
                          
He loves me too. It was fate to be that way after all. Maybe this gift is a good thing.
