Chapter 9: A Not so Relaxing Sunday

Louis was going absolutely crazy. He didn’t know it was possible to be this overwhelmed. It was only noon on Sunday and he was absolutely ready for the day to be over. Niall and Harry were both extremely crabby and Louis did not want to deal with it. Niall was crying on the kitchen floor, throwing a tantrum because Louis would not let him touch the laptop keyboard. Harry on the other hand was in a time out because apparently he thought it was a good idea to put finger paint all over the fridge and kitchen floor. And Zayn? Zayn had gone to the park with Travis to meet up with some friends.

“Niall! Stop crying!” Louis snapped, taking his eyes off the computer screen to look at his sobbing son. Niall continued to cry and Louis’ head was really starting to hurt. Harry talking about how much he hated Louis was not making his headache any better.

“You’re mean Daddy. I wish Papa was here, I hate you.” Harry said from the time out corner, crossing his arms and giving Louis a glare.

“Thank you for reminding me for the 500th time, Harry. And believe me, if your other father was here, your punishment would be a lot worse than a time out and a week without dessert.” Louis told the child, rolling his eyes.

“Still hate you.” Harry mumbled, looking away. Louis was trying really hard not to cry. It wasn’t the first time that Harry said that he hated Louis, it has happened before. But Louis was already overwhelmed with emotions and Harry saying he hated him made it a little worse. Louis’ IPhone started to ring and Louis groaned loudly. He could not deal with people at the moment. He grabbed it and noticed it was Liam. He answered it, hoping that Liam’s voice would bring him a little sanity.

“Liam.” Louis whined.

“Is everything alright baby?” Liam asked softly.

“Fucking no, it’s not. Niall’s throwing a tantrum and Harry got paint everywhere, he’s telling me that he hates me, all while I’m trying to cook lunch and pay the phone bill. Please calm me down.” Louis begged, letting his face drop into his hands.

“Relax, love. You know Harry doesn’t mean it, and Niall will eventually get too tired of crying and fall asleep. Where’s Zayn at a time like this?” Liam asked.

“He’s at the park with his friends.” Louis told his husband, sighing into his hand. Liam said something but it was too noisy to hear anything.

“Where are you? I can’t hear you.” Louis said into the phone, plugging his other ear.

“Erm… I’m just getting some lunch, so I’m walking down the street.” Liam said and the uncertainty in Liam’s voice scared Louis. He knew Liam was lying, but he didn’t want to make a big deal of it. It would be wrong of him to assume things.

“Oh… okay. I miss you.” Louis said into the phone.

“I miss you too. Look, I gotta go. I just wanted to check up on you guys. Tell the boys that I love them and I’ll see them tomorrow. Love you, bye.” Liam said quickly into the phone, hanging up before Louis had a chance to respond.

Louis sighed and set his phone on the counter. He rubbed his eyes, trying to get rid of the tears that began to pool in them. He wasn’t about to cry in front of his children. He sat up and finished paying the bills, closing the laptop and pushing it away from. He felt someone tug on his leg and he looked down to see a sniffling Niall tugging at his sweatpants. Louis picked up Niall and the one year old instantly cuddled into his father’s chest. Louis kissed Niall’s temple, knowing the baby was worn out from crying. He’d be lucky if Niall could stay awake for lunch.
