*recap*
dianna saw jake and carrie together in a closet at the henderson's party. matt tried to help dianna while she was drunk, but she got really mad and stormed away :)
I hauled my heavy head from my pillow after I heard a knock on the door. I wiped the drowl off my mouth and rolled over. When I arrived home from the Hendersons, I crashed. But I always woke up to eat...
"Come in," I moaned, throwing my hair back in a ponytail.
Jake slowly tiptoed into my room, each footstep lighter and more soft than the first. He had his hands behind his back and an expression that I couldn't read. I cocked an eyebrow and frowned. Why was he acting like I was a bomb about to go off?
"Hey, sis." He said in an unusually high tone. "How ya doin'?"
I sat up in the bed, removing my sweater. "I'm good..." I replied unsurely. "Do you need anything, Jake?"
Jake took a seat on the edge of my bed. He was acting like I was going to start screaming any moment. "About what you saw the last night." He ran a hand through his hair. "I wanted to ask Carrie out a different way, but I-"
Oh! This is why he was acting so weird! He wanted to explain him and Carrie in the closet last night. Why was he acting like I'm mad? I'm not mad at all!
"Dude, it's fine." I cut him off with a raise of my hand. "I don't care about you and Carrie. In fact, I've been waiting for this to happen. It's about time you grew some balls and asked her out. She said yes, right?"
Jake grinned sheepishly. "Yeah, yeah she did." Relief was swimming in his voice. "So I guess... I can go. Okay, well, goodbye, shit-breath."
I threw my pillow at him as he stalked away. "Asswipe." I mumbled.
Jake poked his head through the door. "Oh, that reminds me; Carrie called for you. And so did Matt and Jack."
I didn't really want to talk to Carrie; I still wasn't too pleased about her forcing me to drink. Jack was also someone I wasn't really comfortable speaking with at this moment.
I nodded. "Okay, thanks."
And with one last grin, Jake closed the door. Leaving me to tuck myself back into my bed and read all alone.

I woke up suddenly to the sound of faded music coming from outside. I flipped over to see it was just barely past midnight. I figured someone was just having a party or something. But the music sounds awefully close...
Cursing under my breath, I dragged my body out of my bed and to my window. I hauled open my window and stuck my head outside, utterly confused as to where the music was coming from.
Matt stood in the middle of my yard, one small speaker in each hand and an iPod tucked into his jacket pocket. Some Bruno Mars song blared out, his face lifted into a hopful grin.
He pulled out the iPod at the sight of me and paused the music. I tipped my head to the side and frowned.
"Trying to wake the whole neighborhood?" I asked him in what I hoped was a clear, yet slightly quiet voice.
Matt snorted. "Didn't have a boom box." He said simply. "Can you come down for a minute?"
I shrugged one shoulder. "I think maybe I can."
And with that I hopped down the stairs as quickly and quietly as possible. I slipped out the door and onto the front lawn where Matt was waiting sitting, cross-legged on the grass with his bag lying next to him.
I plopped myself down across from him, my legs becoming cool due to the slightly wet grass. I rested my chin on my hands and stared up at Matt. He stared back down at me, his eyebrows furrowed.
"What's up?" I asked in a tiny voice.
Matt scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. "I, uh... I think we should talk..."
"Oh," I sat up and placed my hands in my lap. "Well, okay, about what?"
Matt made a few small hand gestures, which looked more like many mini spasms. His mouth would open and close, some small noises sqeaking out, like he was trying to find the right words to say but they just wouldn't form.
"I'm sorry," Matt blurted out. "I was being rude to you at the party. I shouldn't have tried to held you back from having fun, it wasn't my place to stop you. I was being dumb and I can't control you," He sighed and glanced at me with a frown. "I just didn't want you to get hurt. I wouldn't feel right if you got hurt and I didn't try to stop you... I care about you and I just- I'm sorry."
I smiled and threw my hands in the air. To be honest, I'm not even mad. I don't know why I was mad that night but I was. And that fact that Matt was apologising for trying to refrain me from being a complete idiot is just so sweet. Maybe he could refrain my friends from being complete idiots.
I placed my hand on Matt's knee. "Matt," I breathed, smiling. "It's fine. You were just trying to help me. If anything, I'm sorry for a being a jerk. But thank you for apologising. You're awesome."
Matt laughed and hung his head. I put my hand back on my lap, grinning. "Can I ask you a question?"
"Yeah," I shrugged. "Sure."
"Do you like flowers?"
Before I could answer, Matt reached into his bag lying next to him and pulled out a bouquet containing a variety of flowers. He handed the flowers to me and I took them, grinning ridiculously.
Matt chuckled awkwardly. "I'm so cheesey, sorry." He ran a hand through his hair. "I think I watched way to many romance movies as an adolescent teen. I'm corny; I just can't contain it."
I shook my head. "No, no. I love it!" I knew I was blushing, but I just couldn't stop. "No need to contain your cheesiness. Let it be free; it's- it's amazing."
"Thanks," Matt mumbled through laughs. "Oh, and can I cash in that Doctor Who marathon offer? I bought a lot of seasons on box-set and I don't think I can watch them all by myself. I can't handle the emotions all alone."
I snorted, lightly nodding my head. "Of course I'll watch a Doctor Who marathon with you. We can do it at my house this time, though. Show you how us poor people live." Matt raised an eyebrow and I grinned sheepishly. "But I think this marathon will require more than just one day."
"You know what?" Matt leaned forward onto his elbow. "I think that's a risk I'm willing to take."
