Chapter 29- Love Sick
One morning Serronie was getting ready, and so many thoughts were in her head. She didn’t feel very well. She began to wonder if Zachary no longer had time for her because of someone else, or him losing interest in her. It made her stomach turn over, and she ran to the toilet and threw up. It was early but she decided to call him. They were able to have a short conversation, it made her feel better. Then she went to make her and Zachary’s favorite breakfast. As she sat down and began to eat, the memories began to come back, and everything on her plate began to smell odd. She jet from the table, shoved her face in the closest trash can and everything came back up. That day only marked the beginning. Time went on and she began to feel worse more often. She struggled to sleep on some nights. Most days she crashed out in bed early, and slept on in to the next day. Her appetite increased, she felt better when she ate, and it helped her find comfort with her relationship situation. Other times, she couldn’t’ keep food down. The random body aches then came, even in unusual places such as her feet and breasts. She came to the realization that landmark symptoms of depression were manifesting themselves. Missing Zachary consumed her thoughts, and compromised her ability to write. The hindrance began to cause friction between her and Francine.
“Serronie, you look like crap. What’s going on”, said Francine starting at Serronie over the brim of her glasses. She exhaled and replied, “Nothing, just a lot going on, that’s all.” Francine pushed back from the table and leaned back in her chair. “Don’t you dare say that it’s nothing. I see it in your face, your eyes, you can talk to me.” Serronie’s eyes began to water; she slanted forward on the table and ran her fingers through her hair. “It’s Zack” she paused to restrain her tears, and then continued, “It feels like we’re ending. He’s always busy, as am I, but he promised me that we’d make it work. I have not had time to go see him, nor has he had time to come see me. We barely talk. He makes sure to tell me that he loves me, even if it’s just a text, but it’s not working for me anyone. I miss him so much, and I just haven’t felt right since he left.” Francine glared at her with great concern, then got up and walked around the table and put her hand on Serronie’s back. “Does he know how hard the distance has been on you?” Serronie pursed her lips, sniffled, and shook her head “no”. “Maybe you should be honest with him, if he cares, then things will change. You can’t go on like this, Ronnie. We’re on a timeline with this book and you’re starting to work more and more slowly. You need to get better, and fix this, so you can be happy, and we can get back on track.” Serronie looked up and wiped her eyes. “You’re right Francine, thanks so much”, she said with a hug.
