Jordan woke up at her desk in a pool of her own drool. She sat up quickly, and wiped the spit from her face. She realized that she had fallen asleep in class.
"Crap." she whispered. She looked at the clock and sighed in relief. Class was two minutes from over.
"Damn. I fell asleep again." she whispered to me. I sat directly in front of her. I smiled.
"Relax, Jordan. I don't think anyone noticed." I lied. The truth was our teacher, Mr. Matthews, did notice, but he was currently giving Jordan and me the silent treatment for Jordan disobeying him and making a contract with Alice. It wasn't an inconvenient thing to have our teacher ignore us all the time, since before he always seemed to be in our business. I just wondered how much longer he could keep it up.
"Jordan. Did you fall asleep again? Isn't this like the fourth time?" Elizabeth whispered to us both. She sat directly next to me.
"Elizabeth! Mind your own business!" Jordan laughed.
"Hey! Did I tell you guys about what happened to me last week? I woke up in the hospital lobby with a crowd of people I've never met before! And the police said that on that same night a woman was found dead in one of the rooms and she was all bloody and her liver was missing! Isn't that crazy? I have no idea what happened!" Elizabeth whispered to us. I sighed. "And apparently the woman had been pregnant, but they can't find the baby! It went missing. People say that somebody must have stolen it, but the dead woman wasn't even due for another month! There was an extra baby in the nursery section of the hospital that looked fresh, but is it really possible that that's the missing baby? I mean how did the baby get to the nursery if no one remembers how the woman died?"
"That's crazy. I'd be terrified if I woke up to something like that." I said to her. I saw Mr. Matthews glance over at us before turning away to resume his denial of our existence.
