Annalise has been explaining her plan to us for a long time. She must have really thought this through, I would have never been able to think of that intricate of a plan. She leaves Tobias and I to discuss our thoughts for a minute.
"I think it's brilliant." I admit, Tobias frowns at me, his eyebrows knitting together.
"Think of the consequences," He reminds me, I didn't think of them until he started mentioning them."What if we get caught?"
"I'm not sure, but it seem pretty flawless to me, the repercussions might be bad, but imagine if we could actually get out of here. We could hide somewhere where we could actually get some peace for once." I say, throwing my arms up for dramatic effect, he is a vital part of Annalise's plan, if he doesn't agree there's no way we are getting out of here.
"But what if we get caught? We'll be killed on sight!" Normally I love his rationalization, but right now it's just getting in the way.
"We have to at least try! We can't just spend the rest of our lives here!" By this point I'm really aggravated with him. I push some stray hair from my face, looking him in the eyes. We communicate silently with our eyes for a while before Annalise gets tired of it.
"Are you going to help with the plan or what?" She asks, clearly annoyed at Tobias's habit of being stubborn. We are both very stubborn people it's hard to change our minds, so I'm not exactly sure how this is going to work out.
"I'm not sure if it's safe, and I'm not putting me, you, and especially Tris in danger." He says, she huffs and looks at him with big, pleading eyes. I smile to myself, she's cute, I wonder how old she is, she reminds me of myself at a younger time in my life.
I used to beg my brother to play Candor with me, he'd say no at first then after some convincing he always gave in especially after my signature 'puppy dog eyes', or at least that's what Christina called them. We used to sit in my room and play Candor for hours, he warmed up to it eventually and was the one to ask me to play. I laugh at the memories, which draws the attention to me.
"Sorry," I say, taking a step backwards into the darkness of the room. Tobias looks at his sister and sighs, not sure what to say.
"It's just too risky." He says, looking Annalise in the eyes. That's when the idea dawns upon me. I haven't used my 'puppy dog eyes' in a while. I walk towards Tobias, making my eyes as big as I can. I tell Annalise to give me a minute to convince him, which she gladly allows.
I stop in front of Tobias, keeping my eyes trained on the ground. I run my hands down his biceps, which are really defined in the shirt he is wearing, and lead their trail to his hands, I lace my fingers with his. Our hands rest in between us as I start to give him my best pouty face. I only use this to my advantage during desperate measures, but I'm afraid it's come to that.
"Please just go along with the plan," I say, closing my eyes, when I open them again I make them as big and watery as I can. "Please," I ask, tilting my head to the side, trying to look as innocent as I can.
Tobias groans, "Why?" I stand on my tippy-toes and press my lips gently to his.
"Please," I beg, bouncing up and down on the balls of my feet impatiently.
"Fine." Tobias mutters, staring at the ground.
"What was that?" I ask, cocking my head the other way. My hair falls loosely in front of my face, but I shake my hair lightly back into place.
"I said fine, I'll agree to it," He says, I throw my hands up in victory, "On one condition," I groan this time, I thought I had him convinced completely. "When we get back you miss Trissy have to go on a date with me. Like an actual date, where we aren't being chased down, but just something normal."
"That shouldn't be too hard." I smile, and briefly press my lips to his, but he wraps his arm around my waist and pushes me closer. Annalise clears her throat, I pull away blushing.
"It's getting late. We should probably go to sleep so we can start executing the plan tomorrow," Tobias and I agree. We let Annalise take the bed, which she doesn't object to, and we take the floor next to it. He lays down next to me, his arm draped over my side.
I let myself relax, and when I'm about to fall asleep Annalise speaks up. "Should we let Marcus out?"
"No!" Tobias and I yell at the same time. I see her shrug from the corner of my eye and smile to myself.
"I love you," I mumble into his shirt, closing my eyes.
"I love you too," I listen to his steady heart beat until the familiar feeling of sleep overtakes my body.
