Deadly silence filled the house. Zelda sat in a corner and Luciana stood crying in front of the window. Mikhail was no where to be seen.

"Where are Edward and Mikhail?" The question cut through the air and a single drop of tear slipped from Lucianas eyes.

"Edwards gone for the war. There's going to a war. I don't know where Mikhail is. He hasn't been home since yesterday...." Meras heart pained for her, if there was gong to be a war chances were she'd never see her mate again.

Luciana looked at her almost sensing her emotions, so raw, spread in front her. She was the last person to accept sympathy from anyone. "I'm not sad that he's gone. For the first time we are able to do something for Mikhail. For the first time ever. That boy has made so many sacrifices for us, heck I was the reason he is in so much misery right now-"

"Misery? What happened to him?" "Ella. His mate. He loved her madly. She was his world. And then there was this terrible war which broke out here. Men were commanded to join the army, one from each family. Zella was almost crushed by a wagon back then. Our little pup. Edward was terrified that we might loose her and he refused to move by her side. He was filled with a mad need to protect his little one he let no one by her side not even me, we weren't even sure I'f Zelly could make it out alive. Mikhail thought it would be inhumane to part a wolf from his dying pup so he left instead. Without a word. Stupid boy, his mate was with a pup back then. She needed him more than anything else. But Mikhail had left, it was too late. And when time came, she gave birth. And her pup was born dead, deprived of its fathers touch and his shadow. Ella died too that night, she couldn't make it through the pain alone, she couldn't do it. And he couldn't meet them once before they died, he came after 6 months, the burial was over, he couldn't even see their face....."

Tears streamed down Meras eyes as Luciana broke into tears. That explained why he looked at her sweetly once and then he'd look at her with rage, as if he was angry with himself for something. The goodness inside me always brought him forward to help her and the love for his mate made him bad in front of her.

"If only we could save Ella.....things would've been so different right now. We lost her in front of our own eyes.....we couldn't do anything to save her. When Mikhail came back from the war, he rushed to their room. It was empty. He started searching frantically for them, he couldn't find them. When he heard what happened, he ran up to their room and locked himself in there for 3 months. He didn't listen to anyone, nor opened to door nor spoke anything nor let anyone come inside. Edward has had enough and three months later he broke into his room and found him curled into a ball on the floor, holding on Ella's chemise to his chest, his breaths slower than ever"

"He tried to....kill himself?" Her eyes widened in pain and tears rolled down her cheeks, her heart clenching in pain. "Twice. Edward had never let him out of his sight ever since. It breaks me to see him like this, I can't forget what he had to pay for us...."

"It's all in fate. You can't fight it. Once the goddess writes your fate, your fate becomes your destiny. There's no changing it or going back from it. Some scars are seared on our soul for the eternity to witness. All you can do is and mourn over what has happened....." "Oh Lu," tears fell from her eyes as she hugged her, her arms embracing her in a hug.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry It'll all be ok. With time. Trust me" "she was his world Mera, how can it be ok? You won't understand the feeling of having a mate-" tears of humiliation filled Meras eyes as she stared at her silently. "I'm a marked female Lu. I belong to someone. I do understand. Fate has played a terrible game with me. You know nothing of it" "I'm sorry Mera I didn't mean to-" "never mind. I'll get you some water"

She got up to get some water for Luciana, her hands reaching for the lid on the pot, only to find it empty. "There's no water left" Luciana said looking at her. "Don't worry, I'll get some then" "you don't even know the way towards the well. How will you go?" "I'll find my way. Like I always do" she said fastening the bonnet over her head. "Mera I'm sorry-" too late. The door already closed behind her.
