Chapter 4
Desirah's POV
I woke up the next morning unexpectedly happy. Why? I had temporarily forgotten.
Then I turned on my iPod and was immediately brought to my direct message page. I had numerous messages to and from Niall Horan. Oh yeah, that's why I was so happy.
I squealed excitedly and hugged my iPod to my chest. I had the greatest life ever! Then I remembered that it was Friday and my life sucked all over again.
I wasn't looking forward to school. A lot of girls bullied me. At first I didn't know why, but then they actually told me. It was because I was ugly. I had an unnaturally big nose, crooked teeth, no thigh gaps, and a stick-straight body. I wasn't pretty.
I rolled out of bed and grabbed some clothes before trudging into the bathroom. I changed into a "The Lion King" t-shirt with a large picture of Simba on it. I loved Disney. Then I pulled on a pair of raggedy jeans and smiley face high-tops. I put on some mascara, but that was it. I couldn't wear anything else. I brushed my teeth and left the bathroom. Linda still wasn't awake yet.
I slung my backpack over my shoulder and checked the time. It was 6:00am. School started at 7:30am, with breakfast at 7:00am. I decided to head down early. But before I did so, I sent Niall a quick DM.
@ForeverAlone13: school ends at 2:50pm. If you still want to chat, do it at 3pm
I didn't get a reply. I decided not to fret. He was probably sleeping or performing or doing an interview or something. He was a busy famous person, after all.
I left my dorm room and went downstairs. This place was practically empty. Well, I was an early riser on the weekdays, so this wasn't surprising to me.
I sat at an empty table in the cafeteria. I played on my iPod for a while. I did my English homework. I opened my Twitter app and sent out a tweet.
@ForeverAlone13: What seems like a tease to you, could destroy someone's life. Think before you say.
I didn't know what to do after that.
Girls started to come into the cafeteria after a while. Nobody sat by me, but I was used to that. By the time it was 6:50am, the cafeteria was full.
I decided to get in line for food before the line got too long. I stood behind a short girl with bright red hair and grabbed a tray. I waited with the rest of them.
Before long, the line was moving. It inched forward as girls sluggishly got their food and sat at a table. I tapped my feet against the floor impatiently.
Five girls moved in front of me. One of them even pushed me back to make room for them all. I bristled indignantly.
"Hey!" I cried. "Wait in line like the rest of us. Go to the back!"
The tallest one, who I assumed was the leader, turned around and stared down at me. I suddenly had a bitter taste in my mouth. It was Isabelle, the girl who bullied me the most. Of course it was.
Isabelle was beautiful. Every girl was jealous of her. She had long, luscious, dark brown hair that dropped over her shoulders. She had bright blue eyes and not a single speck on her face. She had impeccable fashion sense and a thigh gap the size of China. She always made me feel insecure.
"Well, look who it is," she said in her icicle-like voice. "It's little Dopey."
My face burned at the nickname. I was not a bald dwarf. I did not have big ears or large feet. But I could not manage to say a word to Isabelle.
