Marie's POV

My phone screen lit up, illuminating the dark room that I was just moments ago, sleeping peacefully in. I rolled over and saw the time. 1:29am. I bet this is Ryan calling for a video chat.

I picked my phone up. Yep. It is Ryan calling for a video chat. Ugh. I guess I have to answer.

"Hey!" Ryan said once it loaded and I could see his face. "Oh no wait, honey did I wake you up?"

"Yeah but, it's fine"

"No it's not. I'm sorry, I forgot about the time zones. I'll call you back another time..."

"No. It's fine. I'm awake now so we might as well talk"

Ryan's POV

"You look great by the way" I said despite the face I could only just make out her face in the dark. It's so weird to think that it's night time where she is, yet early evening where I am. I can barely get me head around it.

"Liar" she laughed.

"What?" I chuckled.

"I've been asleep. I don't look great at all"

"You always look great to me"

"Well that's sweet, but also a lie. Anyway, what are you up to? Did you go and see Chloe earlier?"

"Yeah" I lied. I didn't. I stayed here and watched friends on tv for a few hours. But close enough right?

"Good. And, how are you feeling about the wedding? Is it tomorrow?"

"Yeah. Mike took Chloe to go and get the dress that Mum has got her today."

"Have you seen it?"

"Yeah, she sent me a picture after she tried it on"

"And?"

"It's...nice"

"What's wrong with it?"

"Nothing"

"Come on Ryan, I can tell something is off. Just be straight with me and tell me what it is"

Even from across the ocean and through a phone screen, she can see that something is wrong, that's quite an impressive skill to be fair.

"It's nothing really it's just....well, it looked expensive"

"It's for a bridesmaid Ryan of corse its expensive"

"Yeah but...I dunno"

"You want to know why she isn't spending money on you?"

"Yeah I guess."

"Don't overthink it. It will just be because Chloe is a bridesmaid. They couldn't have you being the ring bearer or whatever because you haven't met the groom and it's his choice."

"Yeah but....I dunno. I guess I just feel a bit left out of the loop"

"Well you shouldn't. I bet tomorrow will come around and you'll go to the wedding and wonder why you were ever even worried in the first place. It will be great"

"I hope you're right"

"I know I'm right"

"But how can you be so sure?"

"I'm not. But right now the best thing you can do is hope and keep positive, and not think about the worse case scenarios"

"Oh babe don't do this" he whined as he flopped down on his bed.

"Do what?" I asked, worried that I had offended him.

"Make me want to cuddle you" he whined. "And kiss you and feel your warmth against me and have you in my arms..."
