The Confession

It's dark and I've only just got back to Tobey's house.

Walking in, I see Tobey asleep on the couch. I walk over and prod him awake.

"Heya, Tobey." I say to a groggy face.

"L... Lena?"

"Yup. You miss me?"

"Why were you avoiding me! I thought I had done something to upset you! I... I don't know... what I would have done if you had... left me..." He looks like he's about to cry.

I feel absolutely awful.

"I am so sorry. I didn't mean to upset you, I really didn't. I was just... trying to figure out my feelings... for... you..."

I can't believe I said that! Especially like that! I must be a blushing mess!

This is so awkward. Too awkward.

A few agonising moments pass by and still no response from Tobey.

He'd better not have gone back to sleep.

Willing myself to look at him, I turn my head slowly at first but then the anticipation of seeing his face makes my head turn faster.

He's looking at me, about the same shade of red as me.

"Uhm... Tob-?"

"What kind of feelings?"

"Can you not guess?"

"I want you to say it."

After a long pause, I finally gather up the courage to say what I've been thinking for a while now.

"I... I l-love... you..."

The feeling of embarrassment that washes over my body cause me to turn away from his intense gaze.

Suddenly, the feeling of his hand on my chin, forcing me to look at him. His touch is so warm and comforting, allowing me to relax a bit.

"I love you too."

This was so worth the emotional torment that my thoughts gave me. I couldn't ask for a better outcome.
