Another Promise

                                    

                                          
"Barry!" Caitlin shouts in my earbud. I don't respond as I run back to S.T.A.R. Labs. "What was that!" She yells as soon as I'm in the entrance. "Cait-lyn" I catch myself before I let her nickname slip. "I was fine. I'm just getting back into the hang of things that's all." I move my arms allowing my S.T.A.R. Labs sweater to settle nicely on my chest. "Where is everyone?" I question noticing Harrison and Jesse were no where to be found along with Cisco. For the first time I am alone with Caitlin and my stomach is in knots. 
                          
Not missing a beat despite my change in clothes Caitlin responds, "Don't you dare change the subject; Harrison and Jesse are out in the city, they are leaving soon so Harrison wanted to show Jesse around and Cisco said something about something he had to go get..." She rants bringing a permanent smile to my face. "But that doesn't matter. What matters is that you are being careless. You don't have your head in the game. What's going on Barry? What happened in the other timeline that's got you off balanced." 
                          
I speed up as I admit my feelings for her. "I love you. I fell in love with the other you on the other timeline and I promised her I would tell you of my feelings. Caitlin, God, I love you. That's why I can't focus. That's why I miss the other world. That's why I can't sleep, because I worry your doppelgänger is stuck out there. That's why I'm off balanced, because I need you." I stop moving. Taking a deep breath I answer "it's just different here. I go form having speed to no speed and a whole other life and now I'm back a if nothing happened." I whisper the last part running my hands through my hair. 
                          
Sighing she calms down and leans on the desk that we made out on before I ran home. "Barry, I know that it's got to be hard, but I need you to be careful. I need you to be safe." I step forward unconsciously to wipe the single tear that is falling from her beautiful face but I stop mid air. "I promise" I say making my third promise for Caitlin. "Caitlin I -" 
                          
"No! You are not ever wearing those shorts..." Harrison Well's voice floats down the short hallway making me immediately pull back from the brunette beauty so close to me, but so far away.
